To Victor, The Spoils

Published by Psy
Last Updated

Louise suggests Vic takes over Marty's business empire, but first they'll need some muscle.

Cutscene

Inside Mary-Jo's apartment, Vic and Louise are talking in the kitchen.

Louise says to Vic "I've been thinking over what you said about me and the baby being better off without Marty, and I've got a plan"... "Why don't YOU take over Marty's business?" she asks inquisitively. "I'm no gang boss" responds Vic. "No. But you could be..." explains Louise. "C'mon. We both need the cash, honey."

Outside, Louise tells Vic their first plan is to get some guys together. You're told to take Louise to recruit some muscle, which is marked on the radar with a blue blip.

Grab a nearby vehicle and make your way South to Sunshine Autos. You'll need a vehicle with 4 seats, so the Regina nearby works perfectly.

Once you arrive, you'll spot two men standing out front, marked with blue arrows over their heads.

As you get closer, the game will tell you to "recruit the henchmen into your gang".

Get out of your vehicle and you'll be told "to recruit henchmen into your group, target them and use the relevant button". On PS2 you'll press R3, on PSP it's D-Pad Up.

Aim at the henchmen (but don't shoot them, obviously!) and press the recruit button to add them to your gang.

Once they've both been recruited, you'll be told to go to Marty's loan shark office, which is down the road to the South, marked by a pink blip on the radar.

Get back in the car with Louise and your two new recruits and set off.

Park in the pink marker when you reach the loan shark office.

Cutscene

Vic and the two henchmen get out of the car, while Louise takes over the driver's seat, telling Vic "I'll go and find some more guys and see you at Marty's other place" before speeding off.

Vic says to his henchmen "this shouldn't be too tough. Come on guys" before walking across the road towards Marty's business.

Once you're back in control of Vic, a number of Marty's guards will be in front of you, marked with red blips on the radar and red arrows above their heads. You're told to kill Marty's guards.

Blast away with your weapons while your henchmen help out. The guards are well armored so it'll take more bullets than usual to put them down.

A few more enemies will appear after the first few are dealt with, so kill them too.

Once they're all dead, you'll be told "That's Marty's loan sharking out of business. Wipe up the remnants of his Protection Racket". The new location is marked with a red blip on the radar.

Grab the parked Admiral nearby and let your henchmen get in with you (although you can actually just abandon them here if you want to), then make your way North to the next business.

You'll find it right next to the police station and can reach it quicker by cutting across the grass near the trailer park.

When you arrive you'll spot around 10 or so enemies marked with red arrows who need to be killed as the game tells you to "kill Marty's guards".

Keep moving and blast away to take down all of the enemies. Once again they're well armored so it'll usually take more than a single shotgun blast to take them out.

Once the last one has hit the deck, you'll be told to "go inside to take this site over".

Walk into the blue arrow to enter the business premises.

Inside you'll be told to kill more of Marty's guards. There are two of them in there, one right in front of you, the other behind the bar to the left. They won't take a lot of effort to put down.

Cutscene

Vic walks outside as Louise arrives in the car.

"You did it Vic. The whole damn caboodle's yours!" she tells him. "Yeah, but I don't know how to run this kind of thing" explains Vic. "Marty could do it and he was nearly inbred, you'll pick it up!" she very correctly informs him. "You're amazing. You can do anything".

One of the henchmen asks Vic "Hey boss? Is this a full time position?". "Yeah. Yeah it is." he responds. "Everything's gonna be just fine".

Louise then reverses her car and leaves.

The camera pans over the area as you're told "This site is now part of your business empire".

"You will find your gang members hanging around outside any businesses that you own".

"You can recruit them to join you by targeting them and pressing the relevant button" (R3 on PS2, D-Pad Up on PSP).

"While not on a mission, you can enter the building on a site by walking into the arrow."

"Inside you will find more gang members".

"You can start missions by standing near a gang member and using the relevant button".

"Complete empire missions to increase your reputation. A higher reputation will increase your earnings for a business type."

"Your empire earnings will be paid directly to you at 16:00 every day."

"Every business you own also contains a notice board."

"Stand next to the notice board and use the relevant button to develop the site."

Mission Passed!

After the mission you'll receive a pager message which says you have a visitor waiting for you at the airport.

You may also receive a pager message with your empire earnings report if you finish the mission after 16:00.

On PSP you'll also be told you've unlocked new multiplayer content after the mission.

And finally the game informs you that you can develop your business by entering the building.

Empire Building is now unlocked and plays a major part in the remainder of the game, so check out our highly detailed Empire Building guide.
