Empire Building - Protection Racket
Increase your protection racket business reputation by attacking and protecting shopkeepers to extort money in GTA Vice City Stories.
To start protection racket 'Extortion' jobs, you'll need to acquire a protection racket business during your Empire Building. Head inside and interact with a gang member marked with a blue arrow to start the missions.
Extortion jobs require Vic to visit various shops and small businesses around the city, either convincing the shopkeeper to pay protection by smashing up their items, or clearing out a rival gang from attacking one of the shops already under your protection.
When you reach the first store, you'll be told to go inside. Walk into the blue arrow at the door to enter the shop.
Inside, a number of the store's stock items will be marked with green arrows.
You need to use your weapons to destroy them. To save ammo, you can use a melee weapon such as a Baseball Bat for some of them, however items on the top shelves will need to be shot.
Once you've destroyed enough stock, the shopkeeper will agree to pay and you'll acquire a new client.
The actual shops which you acquire as clients are random and just because you visted one and cleared it out doesn't necessarily mean that shop will always be under your protection. You may head back there and take it over again a few jobs later.
Around half of the jobs you'll complete will require you to protect your shop from rival gangs. When the job starts you'll see a "Damage to store" meter on the screen which indicates one of the stores you're protecting is under attack. You need to get there before the meter is full.
When you arrive, you'll need to kill the enemies outside the building, marked with red arrows above their heads, then head inside where you'll find more enemies who need to be eliminated.
Once all enemies have been cleared, the store is safe and you can move on.
The other type of job is similar, however it requires you to take a shop from a rival gang. This time you'll turn up, kill enemies outside the store and head inside.
Once inside you'll need to destroy a bunch of the shops stock.
Eventually, members of the rival gang who are protecting the shop will show up and you'll need to clear them out.
Once they're all dead, the shopkeeper will reluctantly agree to pay you for protection.
Continue protecting your shops and attacking rival stores until you reach the max reputation level of "Ultimate Badass". You'll achieve this by completing 15 extortion jobs. From this point, your Protection Racket businesses will bring in 3x more money on a daily basis. You'll be told that the missions will continue from your last level, so they don't all need to be done in a single sitting.
