Vigilante

Vigilante

Use a law enforcement vehicle to chase down and eliminate criminal threats in GTA Advance.

To start the Vigilante missions, you'll need to acquire a law enforcement vehicle and press L + R together. There are a variety of different vehicles which can be used for the Vigilante missions, but the most basic and easiest to acquire is the standard Police Car. You can often find them parked randomly in parking lots around the city, or steal one from the street if you see one driving around, although this will give you a 1-star wanted level.

Vehicles you can use for the Vigilante missions include;

  • Police Car
  • SWAT Van
  • FBI Car
  • Tank
GTA Advance Vigilante 3

The objective of the Vigilante missions is to drive across the city, chasing after criminals marked with a red blip on the radar and eliminate them. It's completely random whether the criminal will be driving around in a vehicle or running around on-foot.

GTA Advance Vigilante 4

For vehicle-based criminals, you can either park nearby and blast away with a gun to destroy their car, or crash into them constantly until it's badly damaged. Either way, they'll probably get out and start shooting at you, so once they're on foot you can run them over or shoot them. For the criminals already on foot, splatting them with your car is the ideal way to pass the level.

You must make 20 'arrests' on each of the three islands, meaning at least 60 in total. After every 10 arrests (or rather kills) you'll receive a message telling you that a police bribe has been delivered to your hideout. There are 2 bribes to unlock on each island which will eventually leave you with 6 after completing 20 kills on Portland, Staunton and Shoreside Vale, however you're able to go in and out of the hideout items menu to re-use the unlocked police bribes, so it's possible to lose a 6-star wanted level with a single unlocked bribe.

GTA Advance Vigilante 6

Completing 20 kills on each island will take somewhere around 10-30 minutes depending on how lucky you get with criminals spawning on foot rather than in vehicles.

GTA Advance Vigilante 7
Hints & Tips
You don't need to complete 20 kills in a row. You can play the mission multiple times until you hit the target on each island. Check your stats to see how many you've done.

Time Limits & Rules

The time will constantly count down, so you need to be as quick as you can to reach and eliminate the criminal. There is only one criminal at a time and you'll receive a time bonus after each kill.

GTA Advance Vigilante 8

The worst thing about the Vigilante missions is that, despite the fact you're doing their job, the police really don't like you driving around the city spraying bullets everywhere and blowing up cars in a trail of destruction... You'll end up with a wanted level which is quite tricky to shake because you can't take the police car to the Pay 'n' Spray. Your only solution is to try to lose a single star wanted level by avoiding the police for awhile, or hunt down police bribes around the city.

GTA Advance Vigilante 9

You're allowed to exit the police car for 60 seconds, which gives you time to kill criminals with a gun on-foot as GTA Advance lacks the feature to drive-by, but if you don't get back into a Police Car in time, the mission will end. You can use this functionality to your advantage however and if you see a parked police car, you can swap out your damaged one for a new one without ending the mission. You'll also pick up 4 shotgun shells for each new police car you get into.

The mission will end if you exit the Police vehicle and don't get back in for 60 seconds.

You'll also fail the mission if you are Wasted, Busted or you run out of time.

Level Breakdown

The Vigilante missions in GTA Advance aren't in 'levels' like later games, you just kill a criminal one after the other until you hit the target of 20 on each island. They do not need to be done consecutively. You can play the mission 20 times and get one kill each time if you like.

GTA Advance Vigilante 11
Island Arrests Required
Portland 20
Staunton Island 20
Shoreside Vale 20

Tips

The police car is very fast with very good handing, however using the siren - which usually comes on automatically for each new criminal - doesn't make any difference to the traffic, so don't expect them to get out of your way.

GTA Advance Vigilante 12

The police car can take quite a bit of damage but once you start getting shot at by enemies, or if you accidentally hit your car with a shotgun blast, it's going to start smoking pretty quickly. Whenever you see a fresh police car in a parking lot, I'd recommend switching to it.

You technically don't need any guns for the vigilante missions as you can use your car to smash the criminals car to pieces and run them over once they're on foot.

Rewards

  • After every 10 criminals killed, you'll unlock a police bribe at your hideout. There are 2 bribes to unlock on each island.
