Firefighter
Acquire a Firetruck and use the hose to extinguish burning vehicles in GTA Advance.
To start the Firefighter missions, you'll need to climb into a Firetruck and press L + R together. Firetrucks seem to be quite rare but they can technically spawn in any parking lot. The easiest way to acquire one is to blow up a few vehicles or throw some Molotov Cocktails and usually one will appear soon after.
The objective of the Firefighter missions is to drive across the city to burning vehicles and use the hose to squirt water and put the fires out. You can use the hose by pressing A + B together. One quick blast of the hose is enough to put out a fire.
The targets are always singular stationary vehicles, so you don't have to worry about chasing them around the map. They won't blow up if you accidentally crash into them, but I would suggest you try to avoid it if possible.
You need to extinguish 20 fires in total on each island. They don't need to be done consecutively.
It should take around 10-30 minutes to put out 20 fires on each island. The flaming vehicles spawn randomly so sometimes they can appear around the corner, or completely across the other side of the map which will affect the time it takes.
Time Limits & Rules
The time will constantly count down so you need to speed across town and get to the fires as quickly as possible. Once a fire is extinguished, you'll receive a time boost and another vehicle will spawn elsewhere. The time is quite generous so after a few consecutive fires you should have more than enough time to reach the next ones.
You'll also fail the mission if you are Wasted, Busted, a burning vehicle is destroyed.
Level Breakdown
The Firefighter missions in GTA Advance aren't in 'levels' like later games, you just put out fires one after the other until you hit the target of 20 on each island. They do not need to be done consecutively. You can play the mission 20 times and extinguish one fire each time if you like.
Island | Fires Required |
---|---|
Portland | 20 |
Staunton Island | 20 |
Shoreside Vale | 20 |
Tips
The Firetruck has decent speed and is quite tough, but the handling is quite heavy. The vehicle itself isn't as heavy as other GTA games so you won't necessarily send vehicles flying by driving into them.
You only have to worry about putting out stationary car fires, there are no flaming pedestrians.
For some reason the police treat using the hose as if you've shot someone and you can often receive a wanted level for putting out fires if a cop is nearby when you do.
Because the flaming vehicles spawn randomly, you could start and end the mission over and over until a vehicle spawns nearby, although doing this will require you to keep count of the number of fires you've put out on each island.
Rewards
- Once you've completed 20 fires on each island (60 in total) the Flamethrower will be delivered to your Hideout Items.
The Firefighter missions are a requirement towards 100% completion.
