Down The River
Asuka wants Mike to capture Mafia gangsters by hitting them into a truck with a Katana.
Asuka | Mike-san, I'm quite upset. I run a profitable import-export business and the Mafia seems to want a piece of my pie, so to speak. |
---|---|
Mike | What do you want me to do about it? |
Asuka | Well, I thought to make an object lesson out of a few of their thugs. I want to set up an indentured servant ring in east Asia and I want you to round up Mafia 'volunteers'. Take this katana; it's a family heirloom. 'Enlist' as many Mafia thugs as you can with it and we'll send them out on a cargo ship tonight. I expect at least fifteen Mafia thugs but will reward you handsomely if you bring me more, Mike-san. |
Once outside, Mike has some thoughts on Asuka...
Get in the truck and you'll find out you have 10 minutes to kidnap at least 15 Mafia members.
The way the mission works is you'll drive to two separate locations where there are around 10 Mafia goons marked with blue arrows above their heads. You'll need to hit them with the Katana which will knock them down, then they'll get up and chase you. Lead them back to the truck then hit them again when you're near it and they'll climb inside. Once you've captured all Mafia in one area, you'll take them to the docks to drop them off, then head to the next zone.
The first capture zone is at the South of the island. Drive the truck there, just along the road from Ammu-Nation and park in the blue square.
Run up to the Mafia guys marked with a blue arrow above their heads (and a red blip on the radar) and hit them with the sword so they chase you. You can hit a bunch of them in one swing and make them all get in the truck at once if you lead them back there and hit them again. Don't kill them though, try to hit them no more than 2 or 3 times each. You can sprint to get away from them, but if you run too far away they'll stop following you.
Once you've got around 5 of them into the truck, one of the Mafia guys will say something.
Keep chasing the Mafia members marked with the red blips until you've got them all. You'll probably get attacked by other random pedestrian enemies, but you can't do anything with them so chop them up with the sword or run away.
Once you've captured all 10 of the Mafia goons in this area, get in the truck.
You'll now need to make your way to the docks about half-way up the island on the East side.
Park up in the blue square when you arrive. You can drive off the side of the freeway as a shortcut, just be careful not to end up in the water.
Once you've dropped off the first group of Mafia, head West to the next area, which is in the parking lot and yard across the road from the Pay 'n' Spray. If your truck is a bit damaged (because you can end up hitting it with the sword), perhaps take it for a respray first if you have time.
Park up in the blue square like before, and Mike will have something to say.
Do the same as before, run up and hit the Mafia goons so they chase you, lead them back to the truck then when they're nearby, hit them again to encourage them to get in.
Once you've captured a few more from this location, there'll be another conversation.
Continue capturing the Mafia until you hit the target of 15.
Mike has come to a realization that working for Asuka is a dangerous job.
Once you've captured 15 Mafia guys in total, you're given a 3 minute time limit to get to the docks and drop them off. Doing this will complete the mission, however there are still Mafia gangsters waiting to be whacked and the final number you deliver affects both the final cutscene and the mission reward.
Although you'll now have a 3 minute countdown to capture remaining Mafia and get them to the docks, you can acquire up to 24 in total, though 21 is enough for the maximum reward. Feel free to continue whacking them and leading them into the truck until you've got about 1 minute left as it doesn't take long to get to the docks.
Once you're satisfied, make your way to deliver them to Askua.
As you park up, Asuka will come running over and the cutscene displayed is based on the number of Mafia you delivered.
Deliver 15 Mafia
Asuka | Let us see what you have brought me, Mike-san. I count 15, unfortunate Mafia thugs. I have accomplished my goal of sending the Mafia a warning. Incursions into my territory will not be permitted. |

Mission Reward: $10,000
Deliver 16-18 Mafia
Asuka | Ahh, Mike-san. How many poor Mafia souls have you brought me? [16-18] Mafia thugs, that's more than I'd expected. Good work. The first blow has been made. The Mafia will think twice before invading my territory again. |
---|
Mission Reward: $15,000
Deliver 19-20 Mafia
Asuka | March them off to the freighter, Mike-san. An ironic sight, don't you agree? I count [19-20] Mafia thugs here. Amazing! You deserve much more than the usual pay, Mike-san, some extra cash and my car. The Mafia will be infuriated at losing so many of their men! |

Deliver 21-24 Mafia
