Grand Theft Auto Vice City StoriesGTA Vice City Stories - Side Objective Guide

Rampages

Published by Psy

Rampages

Map, screenshot and text locations of all 35 rampages in GTA Vice City Stories.

GTA Vice City Stories, much like GTA Vice City which came before it, features 35 rampages scattered across its islands and they're all required for 100% completion.

Warning!
Depending on the version of the game you're playing, the number of rampages varies. There are 30 to complete on PSP and 5 extra, totaling 35 on PS2. We'll try to cover them in the guide below, but primarily this guide is targeted towards the PSP version of the game.

Completing Rampages

Walk over a rampage icon (a white skull in a pink circle) to start the mission.

Once it starts, you'll be given a specific weapon with infinite ammo and be tasked with killing a set number of enemies - or destroying a number of vehicles - without dying yourself and before the 2 minute time limit runs out.

Plenty of enemies will spawn on the streets nearby which makes these challenges quite easy, particularly as they will usually spawn in groups with their gang, however, many of the enemies will attempt to attack you once you start shooting, so you'll need to keep moving. There may be some occasions where it's hard to find enough enemies to complete the rampage before running out of time.

Unlike other games in the series, this time rampages can be replayed once they have been completed. Rather than disappearing, the rampage collectable will turn blue once its been completed and collecting it while blue will allow it to be played again.

Wanted Level Clearing
You'll often receive a wanted level during your murderous rampages, however try to ignore the cops if you can as your wanted level will be cleared upon completion of the rampage.

Tracking Discovered Rampages

Rockstar Games added a very useful, albeit quite hidden feature to GTA Vice City Stories which allows you to view the Balloons, Rampages and Unique Jumps you've already discovered on the map. This is useful so you can cross reference the game with our map to work out which ones you might be missing, without needing to visit every single location in the game again.

To enable the feature, visit the pause menu map and hold down the X button. An extra menu will pop up allowing you to "Show Discovered Extras" which you can toggle through with the Left and Right D-Pad buttons. Once enabled, discovered or completed objectives are marked on the map so you know they can be safely ignored.

Rampage Rewards

Each successful rampage will award the player with $50, however this is multiplied by the number of rampages completed in total. The first rampage will award $50, the second will award $100, the third offers $150 and so on up to $1000 for completing the 20th rampage, plus a bonus of $3000 for beating them all.

Mainland Rampages

There are 16 rampages to find and complete on the starting West island. They are all accessible from the start of the game. Note that Rampage #15 has a different spawn point on PSP compared to PS2.

Rampage #1

Found in Little Havana. Behind a building and alongside a metal fence at Sunshine Autos.

Objective

Execute 20 Cholos in 2 Minutes using a Pistol.

Tips

Most of the Cholos won't shoot back, so you can take them out pretty quickly just by running around. Hold R1 to lock onto them and use the left and right D-Pad buttons to switch targets when they're dead. This shouldn't be much of a problem but you may get surrounded if you run around too much and they spawn in all directions around you.

Rampage #2

Found in Little Havana. On the roof of the police station. There are some stairs at the back of the building to get you up there.

Objective

Hack and Slash 25 Cholos in 2 Minutes using a Katana.

Tips

Remember you can lock on and target enemies with the Katana by holding R1. This makes this rampage much easier because sometimes you'll target an enemy and others will run in front of him meaning you can get multiple kills at once. The enemies are unarmed so they'll only punch you which doesn't do a great deal of damage so keep targetting them and slashing away. A stab will be an instant kill, otherwise it'll take a few slashes to put someone down.

Rampage #3

Found in Little Havana. On a rooftop near the Hardcore Pawn shop. Head into the alley just East of the shop and make your way up the stairs at the end, then drop down onto the next roof and climb another flight of stairs to find it.

Objective

Kill 25 Cholos in 2 Minutes using a Sniper Rifle.

Tips

You're completely safe from damage on the roof, so I suggest you stay there. Try to jump up onto the corner of the rooftop then use the scope to pick off enemies. You can hold R1 to aim down the scope and Square to zoom in, while X zooms out and Circle fires. Your main problem with this rampage will be running out of time as you essentially need to kill a Cholo every 4 seconds or so. Plenty of them will spawn, and they'll usually be in groups, but they can often start running when one of their friends is killed. You may also have a bunch of enemies run towards your building and try to shoot you, making them difficult to see because they're below you. It is possible to shoot through some objects to hit them though so give it a try even if you think you won't be able to get them.

Rampage #4

Found in Little Havana. Up a small ramp at the front of a building across the road to the North from the basketball courts.

Objective

Gun Down 25 Cholos in 2 Minutes using a Scorpion.

Tips

The Scorpion is essentially an automatic pistol. It's pretty weak but it fires bullets a bit quicker. It does take awhile to reload though so you'll be at risk of taking damage if your magazine runs empty in the middle of a firefight. Just run around, try to keep something solid behind you so you can't be attacked from behind and spray bullets at the enemies, remembering to target the next Cholo when the one you're aiming at is dead.

Rampage #5

Found in Little Haiti. On a rooftop between two vents just South of the entrance to the junkyard.

Objective

Erase 25 Cholos in 2 Minutes using a Micro SMG.

Tips

The Micro SMG is a brutal killing machine. It has great range, deals a lot of damage and seems to have a bigger magazine, although that might be due to how fast it puts enemies down. You can mow through a group of Cholos in a second. Stay on the roof and target enemies on the street and you should be able to beat this one within a minute and without losing any health. There's some body armor on the bridge nearby if you need it.

Rampage #6

Found in Little Haiti. This one is in a tight alleyway, lower down a ramp between two buildings in the North-East of Little Haiti.

Objective

Incinerate 10 Vehicles in 2 Minutes using Molotov Cocktails.

Tips

This one is a bit of a pain. There won't be much traffic around where you start so you'll need to do a lot of running around. There's usually a parked car straight across the street to the South, and another West of there. A third parked car can be found at the cafe further along the road to the South, but after that you'll need to chase after cars that spawn and drive around. Remember to stay well back from the Molotovs as you'll burn away a lot of your health and armor if you catch fire. The Molotovs will usually blow up a car instantly with a direct hit, otherwise you'll need to catch it on fire twice before it'll go boom. If Ambulances or Fire Trucks turn up to put out the fires and rescue the dead, they make perfect targets to increase your vehicle kill counter.

Rampage #7

Found in Downtown. In a concrete pipe inside the Moist Palms Hotel construction site. Bring a fast car with you. That's a car, not a bike!

Objective

Crush 15 Bikers in 2 Minutes using a Vehicle.

Tips

You need to run over the bikers with a vehicle. The reason I suggested a car rather than a bike is that they're much bigger and therefore much easier to hit pedestrians with. Just drive down the sidewalk and smash into the groups of bikers, then spin around and head back the other way until they're all dead. 15 is a pretty easy target, but be warned, they carry Micro SMG's and they'll open fire almost instantly so your car is going to take some fire. Make sure you rack up the kill count before they blow your car up or you'll waste precious time finding another vehicle.

Rampage #8

Found in Downtown. Inside the Skumole Shack, on a rooftop across the road from the biker bar. It's accessible from a set of stairs at the East end of the building.

Objective

Terminate 25 Bikers in 2 Minutes using an AK.

Tips

The AK-47 is lethal. It has insane range, does a lot of damage, fires quickly and reloads quickly. Just stand at the top of the stairs and use R1 to lock onto the enemies below. Most of the time you won't even be able to see who Vic is aiming at, but spray bullets and use D-Pad left and right to switch targets. Stay on the roof and you'll take no damage because the bikers are heavily armed. The AK can mow them down in under a minute. Very easy.

Rampage #9

Found in Downtown. Head up to the roof of the Downtown police station and you'll find the rampage icon under the helipad.

Objective

Exterminate 25 Bikers in 2 Minutes using an AK.

Tips

Another AK-47 rampage so soon!? This one is slightly tricker than the previous one as it's not as easy to kill bikers from the police station rooftop. You should be able to hit a few of them from the main rooftop on street below, but you may want to just take the risk and jump down off the roof and slaughter them face to face on the road. The AK will wipe them out quickly, the only risk is being ambushed while you're reloading.

Rampage #10

Found in Downtown. On a ledge on the North-West corner of the police station rooftop.

Objective

Trash 10 Vehicles in 2 Minutes using Molotov Cocktails.

Tips

This is the second Molotov / Vehicle rampage, and it's arguably harder than the first. For some reason, not much traffic seems to spawn so you'll need to go after parked cars, primarily. My suggestion is to take a motorbike up there with you when you collect the rampage icon to start it.

As soon as you start, get on your bike and drive off the roof to the North. You'll spot a parked Fire Truck over a fence and a car on the other side of the road. Try to get a direct hit with the Molotov as this will blow it up in one hit, otherwise you should throw two molotovs quickly as burning it twice will also cause it to blow up.

Once you've got those two, get back on your bike and head South. You'll be able to blow up a police car in front of the police station, then go around the corner to the East and you'll find a police bike you can destroy.

Get back on your bike then continue East and then go North into the alley behind the police station where you'll find an Enforcer and PCJ-600 to destroy. That puts you on 6 kills and you should have at least 45 seconds remaining.

Continue North past the PCJ-600 then head East and you'll come to a business asset location just off the road with a bike parked outside, so blow that up and you'll need 3 more vehicles. Hopefully by now there is some traffic nearby. A Fire Truck may arrive, presenting an easy target, or the cops might be after you. If all else fails, you could blow up your bike too, but only do that if you need 1 more kill and the time is running out.

I personally found this one very challenging due to a lack of traffic, but maybe that's just me.

Rampage #11

Found in Downtown. This one is hidden under a large ramp which is used for a unique jump on the roof of King Knuts. Getting there without a helicopter can be a bit of a pain as you'll need to use a motorbike and complete the stunt jump ramp in the alleyway to the West to jump onto the roof first.

Objective

Kill 25 Bikers in 2 Minutes using a Shotgun.

Tips

The shotgun is pretty powerful and has decent range, but it generally won't kill enemies in a single hit unless you're really close. If you stay on the roof you'll be able to shoot Bikers on the sidewalk below and across the street, but you'll need to shoot each of them twice. The first shot will knock them down, then they'll take one more to finish them. Basically you just need to keep locking onto the enemies firing a shot, then switching to the next target and keep looping through them as you blow them away.

You might take some damage from enemies who spawn on the other side of the street as they'll have an angle to shoot at you, but you can take them down before they kill you.

The main technique is to keep mashing the shoot button while you repeatedly switch targets.

Rampage #12

Found in Downtown. Right in front of the Hyman Memorial Stadium sign in the middle of the ring-road out front. You really can't miss it.

Objective

Decimate 25 Bikers in 2 Minutes using Grenades.

Tips

Grenade rampages are always challenging because you've got to be extremely careful when tossing grenades. If you're too close to the blast you'll lose a lot of health and being knocked down by the explosion can give enemies a chance to gang up on you. The Biker's are dangerous because of their weapons as well. They'll start shooting at you when they see you kill one of their own.

The best technique is to run around until you find a large group of Bikers then toss a grenade into the middle of them and run away. Any stragglers will probably chase you, so you can get some distance then turn around and throw more grenades to clear them out. Run around a bit and find another group of them and continue.

You can quite easily take out 5-10 enemies with one grenade so don't worry too much about the time limit and focus on getting multiple kills with each grenade. As long as they're not hostile towards you, you can get close enough to set up the perfect throw.

Rampage #13

Found in Downtown. Under some stairs in an alleyway at the very North-West of Downtown.

Objective

Drive-by and Eliminate 20 Bikers in 2 Minutes using a Micro-SMG.

Tips

Bring a motorbike with you before you start this one. The Micro-SMG is great and the ability to fire forwards on your bike, rather than sideways in a car, will make it much easier to aim. Just drive down the sidewalks and mow down the Bikers, then spin around and head back the other way as more enemies spawn.

They'll shoot at you and chase you, but that just gives you more of a target to aim at.

Rampage #14

Found in Downtown. At the top of the long flight of stairs opposite Ammu-Nation.

Objective

Drive-by and Execute 25 Bikers in 2 Minutes using a Micro-SMG.

Tips

Exactly the same as the previous rampage, only with 5 more kills required. Bring a bike with you when you start then do the same as above and spray bullets all over the place as you drive back and forth. This should be pretty straight forward, just don't let them pull you off your bike.

Rampage #15

Found in Downtown.

On the PSP version, this rampage is found at the top of the stairs, East of the Roxor building, along the street from Ammu-Nation.

On the Japanese PSP version and all PS2 versions, it's been moved and you'll find it just to the South of the dirt track.

Objective

On the PSP version you'll need to Take Out 20 Bikers in 2 Minutes using a Mac-10.

On the Japanese PSP version and all PS2 versions, the target is increased to 25 kills with the same weapon.

Tips

You can't drive-by with the weapon as the game will remove it from your inventory if you're in a vehicle so you'll need to run around on foot. You might need to head towards Ammu-Nation before they start spawning. The Tec-9 is fairly weak so you'll need to empty a lot of bullets into your targets, but you can run around on foot while you're aiming and shooting which gives you an advantage.

Be careful not to run out of ammo and get ambushed when you're reloading, but generally the Biker's aim seems to be terrible so you can stand in front of a group of 10 of them and kill them all without losing half of your health. Or at least I did anyway.

Rampage #16

Found in Downtown. This one is on top of a building which is North-East from the VCN Helipad building. You'll either need to jump from the VCN rooftop or land a helicopter up there.

Objective

Take Out 25 Bikers in 2 Minutes using a Sniper Rifle.

Tips

First of all, to get to the rampage icon you'll probably need a motorbike. Head to the rooftop of the VCN building by driving into the doorway marked with a blue arrow next to the Prawn Island bridge. From the rooftop, drive to the East end of the floor you start on, then drive your bike off the North side onto the building below. Follow that around and you'll find the rampage start point.

Once you start, my personal preference is to run back along the building to the South-East corner and get as close as you can to the edge, then use the scope and look down. There will usually be a bunch of Bikers who spawn on the sidewalk below but when you shoot at them, they won't all instantly run towards your building and make themselves hard to see. Most of the enemies who do try to run forward are still visible behind a low wall too so you can pop their heads quite easily.

Usually sniper rampages are tricky because every shot matters but I was able to hit 25 kills with 40+ seconds remaining from my vantage point near the VCN building.

Vice City Beach Rampages

There are 19 rampages to complete in Vice City Beach.

Rampage #17

Found in Vice Point. On a wall next to the water at the very North-Eastern point of Vice City Beach.

Objective

Obliterate 25 Bikers in 2 Minutes using the Equalizer.

Tips

The Equalizer is essentially the Colt Python, a seriously hard hitting revolver which kills anything it hits in a single shot. It can slice through Bikers like a knife through butter but its slow rate of fire means you're likely to take some damage while you wipe out your enemies. The tactic is to lock on, fire, then swith targets. As soon as one target is dead, switch to the next and fire. After 6 shots you'll need to reload and sometimes it can glitch so ensure you stop locking onto anyone when you see Vic reloading.

Rampage #18

Found in Vice Point. On a wall, at the East side of the building at the very North of the map. You can access it from the front of the building, jumping onto the white wall from some steps.

Objective

Annihilate 25 Bikers in 2 Minutes using a Spaz 12.

Tips

The Spaz 12 is an automatic shotgun with a wide spread. It kills pretty much anything in a single hit, and can hit multiple targets at once, so it can mow down large groups of Bikers in seconds. As long as you have full armor and health, you can stand on the street and just blast away at everyone who comes near you.

Rampage #19

Found in Vice Point. At the South end of a hotel on the East side of the island, a few blocks South of the mall.

Objective

Explode 15 Vehicles in 2 Minutes using Grenades.

Tips

Assuming you have no issues with traffic not spawning, the rampage is in an ideal location. Vehicles will approach from the T-junction in front of you, so you won't have to go far to find cars. You'll most likely receive a wanted level too which brings more cop cars to the party giving you more vehicles to blow up. Should be pretty straight forward, just stay out of the blast radius.

Rampage #20

Found in Leaf Links. Right in the center of the tennis court on the Leaf Links golf course.

Objective

Slay 20 Sharks in 2 Minutes using Remote Grenades.

Tips

The remote grenades are a slightly pointless weapon. They're essentially just grenades that you throw, which don't explode until you manually trigger them with the detonator. You'll end up throwing them and detonating them almost instantly, so they might as well just be normal grenades, but the main benefit is that you can run up to a group of Sharks and drop a grenade at your feet, right next to them, then run away and detonate from safety. Eventually they'll probably become hostile though and start chasing and shooting you, so you'll end up tossing grenades and detonating as quickly as you can them like normal.

Rampage #21

Found in Leaf Links. Right under the bridge, near the entrance to the golf club.

Objective

Kill 10 Sharks in 2 Minutes using a Golf Club.

Tips

The golf club is a pretty poor weapon. You'll need to whack your targets multiple times before they die, giving them plenty of time to fight back. Luckily all of the Sharks in this rampage are unarmed so they're only going to punch you, but it's difficult to kill the enemies any more than one at a time with the golf club so you're just going to have to keep swinging and hope to knock multiple people down at once for your own safety. Remember you can gold R1 to lock on to the enemies, but sometimes it's more efficient just blindly swinging the club. You'll often knock enemies down then need to hit them one more time to finish them off, but thankfully the target of 10 is fairly reasonably. You'll still need to use the majority of the 2 minutes time limit though.

Rampage #22

Found in Vice Point. On the roof of the bumper cars building at the fairground, near the Chunder Wheel. It's actually pretty well hidden. To get to it on foot, you'll need to jump onto a crate of the building to the South-West, follow the ramp up to the roof, then jump over a smaller hut and onto the main roof.

Objective

Terminate 25 Sharks in 2 Minutes using an Assault Rifle.

Tips

The Sharks will spawn inside the fairground so you can just stay on the roof and walk around the outside. The Assault Rifle will tear through them easily so just keep locking on and switching targets as they die. The enemies are heavily armed though so try to stay out of their gunfire unless you're running out of time, in which case drop down and spray away.

Rampage #23

Found in Washington Beach. In a pink shower building just South of the road to Starfish Island.

Objective

Destroy 10 Vehicles in 2 Minutes using a Minigun.

Tips

You can't sprint or jump with the Minigun so you'll waste a good 20 seconds just getting to the road, but once you're there, it can wipe vehicles out in milliseconds. You'll want to hold R1 to aim then press D-Pad Down to switch to manual aim, then just fire away and aim at any passing vehicles which will explode almost instantly. If you get a wanted level, the cop cars make a welcome target too, but don't blow them up if they're too close to you or you risk taking damage. If you head directly East after starting the rampage, there's a health pickup across the street should you need it.

Rampage #24

Found in Washington Beach. On a rooftop in an alley, accessible by some stairs. You'll also find an AK on the roof here.

Objective

Eradicate 30 Sharks in 2 Minutes using an SMG.

Tips

The SMG is awesome. It has great range and kills enemies quickly. Stand on the corner of the roof and target the Sharks who'll spawn on the sidewalk below in all directions. A number of them will run towards your building making them tough, if not impossible to hit, but there's an endless supply of newly spawning enemies so just keep aiming and switching to new targets. You may take a bit of damage, but nowhere near as much as you'd take at ground level as the Sharks are heavily armed.

Rampage #25

Found in Washington Beach. Next to a large tree and covered by some thick bushes not far from the FIDL store.

Objective

Terminate 30 Sharks in 2 Minutes using a Minigun.

Tips

The Minigun is a ridiculous killing machine. Just run down to the street and target the enemies with lock-on, then fire away, switching targets with D-Pad left and right. It fires bullets so fast you'll pretty much kill people just by looking at them. Even with enemies surrounding you, you'll wipe them all out faster than they can cause any serious harm.

Rampage #26

Found in Ocean Beach. On top of a hut in the construction site. You can jump up from the grassy hill right next to it.

Objective

Eliminate 30 Sharks in 2 Minutes using a Rocket Launcher.

Tips

As you'd probably expect, the Rocket Launcher obliterates anything you shoot it at. The explosion will take out a large group of enemies so you can smash your way through the kill target at a rapid pace. Just watch out for when the Sharks become hostile and run towards you. Make sure you don't shoot the rocket right at them if they're in front of you because you'll take the blast as well. Always try to aim at the ground behind them, far enough away so that it won't hit you, but they'll be caught in the blast.

Rampage #27

Found in Ocean Beach. Inside the burnt out building just North of the Pay 'n' Spray.

Objective

Extirpate 25 Sharks in 2 Minutes using a Laser Sniper.

Tips

Once you start the rampage, head into the burnt out building and up to the right where you'll find a ramp. Carefully position yourself on the end and you'll be able to take out enemies below you. The game will let you shoot through the wooden ramp too, so any enemies who position themselves right under you can still be gotten even if you can't really see them. The Laser Sniper can be fired like a semi-automatic assault rifle so you can spray bullets as quickly as you can pull the trigger. There are plenty of Sharks so this shouldn't be too much of a challenge.

Rampage #28

Found in Ocean Beach. On top of the roof of a hotel overlooking the Pay 'n' Spray, directly behind the 'O' of its "hotel" sign. It's actually completely out of reach from the ground so you can use a helicopter to reach it, but there is a way you can get there with a vehicle.

Grab an Ambulance from the nearby hospital and drive it under the roof towards the back of the hotel where you'll find a pool. From there, reverse the Ambulance back the way you came. You'll need to hit the wall hard so the Ambulance is bounced on top. Once you're up, park the Ambulance on top of the wall then jump on top of it to reach the roof.

Objective

Kill 25 Sharks in 2 Minutes using the Equalizer.

Tips

Stay on the roof the whole time and target the enemies on the street below. You might need to move side-to-side as more spawn, but you can easily complete the challenge without leaving that rooftop.

Rampage #29
Warning!
Helicopter Required

Found in Ocean Beach. On an awning in Southern Ocean Beach. It's part of the Pole Position Club building from GTA Vice City.

There's no way to reach it without landing a helicopter on the roof of the building and then dropping down onto the pink awning. You'll find a police helicopter on the roof of the police station to the North.

Objective

Level 12 Vehicles in 2 Minutes using the M249.

Tips

The M249 is a heavy machine gun, the likes of which you'd see attached to a helicopter gunship. It fires heavy rounds which cause huge damage, although it's slower than the Minigun. A few hits will set a car on fire and a few more will blow it up. You can get lucky and blow up a car before it catches fire which will result in it exploding twice, giving you double the kills.

You'll need to switch to manual aim by holding R1 and pressing D-Pad down, then you should be able to target traffic as it drives down the street below you.

Rampage #30

Found in Ocean Beach. At the Southern end of Ocean Beach, next to a tree behind a large hedge.

Objective

Decimate 25 Sharks in 2 Minutes using an Assault Rifle.

Tips

The Assault Rifle is great for taking down groups of enemies quickly. Just lock on and switch as you rack up each kill. As long as you have full health and armor when starting, you should be able to stand on the street and just go toe to toe with the Sharks.
