Paramedic
Steal an Ambulance and rescue dying patients in GTA Vice City Stories' Paramedic missions to unlock infinite sprint for Vic Vance.
To start the Paramedic missions, you'll need to climb into an Ambulance and press the D-Pad Up button. Ambulances will permanently spawn outside the hospital on each island, or you can cause some mayhem by killing a few people and wait for one to arrive.
The objective of the Paramedic missions is to drive across the city to pick up injured patients and deliver them to the hospital. Each level will add more patients to collect but the Ambulance can only hold a maximum of 3 at any one time, so the higher levels will require multiple drop-offs at the hospital. The patients will spawn fairly randomly on the sidewalk around the city, but thankfully they just stay where they are.
In GTA Vice City Stories, the Paramedic mission completion target is increased from the usual 12 Levels to 15 Levels, making them substantially longer than previous games.
The mission up to and including Level 15 will take anything from 30 minutes to over an hour to complete, however Vice City Stories provides a welcome checkpoint feature after every 5 levels meaning if you quit the mission or fail, you'll continue from Level 6, or Level 11 depending on if you beat Level 5 or Level 10 respectively.
Time Limits & Rules
The time will constantly count down, so you need to be as quick as you can to reach the patients. After collecting a patient you'll receive a time bonus which is usually more than enough time to get to the next nearest patient or the hospital. On later levels, you'll also receive a time bonus when dropping patients off at the hospital.
In addition, every time you crash the Ambulance while carrying patients decreases their chances of survival, so you need to drive carefully.
Unlike other games in the series, the mission won't automatically end if you get out of the Ambulance. You'll actually be given 30 seconds to get back in, similar to the Vigilante missions. This feature certainly saves some heartache when you press the wrong button, but can also be used to perform an exploit which makes the missions a lot easier... Keep reading to find out more.
You'll fail the mission if you are Wasted, Busted, the Ambulance is destroyed, you run out of time or a patient is killed.

Tips
The Ambulance has decent speed and handling but you should NEVER drive straight towards a patient. Always slow down when near them and pull up alongside them, not moving until they open the door and begin to climb in.
On the later levels, pause the game and check the map to see where the patients are. You'll need to collect them in groups of 3, so try to break them down into sections where possible to avoid wasting time driving back and forth across the city.
When you first leave the hospital, try to collect 3 patients who are close together as this will give you a good time boost which will help you reach the patients who are more spread out.
Ambulance Exploit - Collect All Passengers In A Single Run
Because of the new feature added to Paramedic missions in GTA Vice City Stories which allows Vic to exit the Ambulance without failing the mission, it's possible to glitch the Paramedic missions in a good way.
To perform this glitch, you need to get out of the Ambulance at the same time a patient gets in. It's that simple. When you do this, the game thinks you've picked up the patient, however the Ambulance will remain empty, so you can continue pick up more patients without needing to visit the hospital when the Ambulance gets full. This speeds up and simplifies the Paramedic missions, massively descreasing how long it'll take to beat Level 15 and gives you a huge time buffer so you can drive more carefully to each patient in the game.
How To Do The Ambulance Exploit
Drive to a patient and park in front of them so they run to the back door.
As soon as you see them grab the door and begin to open it, press Triangle to exit the Ambulance.
Once Vic gets out of the Ambulance, press Triangle to get back in.
The patient will climb into the Ambulance as Vic gets out, the game will consider them collected, but then the patient will climb back out because there's no driver.
Drive away carefully, because killing the patient even now will cause a mission failure.
Head to other patients and perform the same trick on them.
You can use this trick on all patients if you like, so you'll end up driving back to the hospital with an empty Ambulance, although if you allow 1 patient to get into the Ambulance, you'll see a pink blip on the radar directing you back to the hospital. This won't appear if the Ambulance is empty so you'll have to remember how to get back there on your own.
This exploit means you can "collect" every patient in a single run, meaning you'd only have to return to the hospital 15 times throughout the 15 Levels, as opposed to 45 times if you do it properly!
Rewards
- After completing level 15, Vic will never get tired from running. This means you can sprint at full speed indefinitely which is very useful throughout the game.
- Cash rewards will increase with each level completed.
The Paramedic missions are a requirement towards 100% completion.
