Grand Theft Auto III - General Details
Grand Theft Auto III is the first in the series of 3D Grand Theft Auto games. Originally released in October 2001, it quite literally created a new genre of game, which has been copied, but never bettered by many other game development studios worldwide. In it, you play as an unnamed character, occasionally known as Fido (although officially named Claude - but never mentioned in game) who has been left for dead by his girlfriend after attempting to stop her robbing a bank. He's then broken out of a police convoy following an explosion on the major bridge and left to a life of crime in Liberty City.
