Turismo Races
Street Races in GTA Vice City Stories are unlocked after the mission "When Funday Comes". Check out their routes and some tips to help you win.
In GTA Vice City Stories, the street races are split into two sections. After the mission "When Funday Comes" for Louise, you'll be able to select from 5 races at Sunshine Autos. At the same time, 4 additional races are also unlocked from the Fairground on Vice City Beach (the East island), however you won't gain access to them until later in the story unless you use the BMX Exploit to reach the island early.
The races are split between Motorbike and Car races, and you'll need to bring your own vehicle to the start line once you've chosen your desired race. You should be able to win most races with almost any vehicle, but I'd personally recommend a PCJ-600 for the motorbike races and a sports car like the Infernus, Banshee or Cheetah for the car races.
The game appears to apply 'rubber-banding' to your competitors, so no matter how well you think you're doing, they'll always be a few seconds behind you. This means there's no point going flat out trying to build an advantage as it won't make much difference, but you must be especially careful not to crash or fall off your bike towards the end of the final lap. If you're overtaken with a few checkpoints left, it's extremely unlikely you'll be able to catch up, meaning you'll fail the race and need to head back to the selector to start it all over again.
Don't shoot or kill any of your competitors as you'll fail the mission.
For all motorbike races, you'll also have to avoid the natural traffic around the city, adding an extra challenge. All car races have no additional traffic on the streets, making them easier. On some occasions you may see a rogue taxi still driving around.
You can find a parked PCJ-600 behind the police station Downtown, or at the harbor at the South of Vice City Beach. For car races, drive around on Starfish Island and you're sure you spot a Banshee or Infernus driving down the street eventually.
Mainland Races (Sunshine Autos)
There are 5 races to complete on the mainland; 3 motorbike races and 2 car races.
Race 1: Escobar Run-Way
Head to Sunshine Autos, East of the airport where you can select a race from a pink marker next to a map in the back yard.

Race Type | Motorbike |
Laps | 2 |
Opponents | 3 |
Opponent Vehicles | PCJ-600 |
Traffic | Yes |
Entrance Fee | $100 |

The same tactics apply to all bike races. Use the handbrake to take corners more sharply. Be very careful not to hit a lamppost or oncoming traffic as you'll fall off your bike and waste precious seconds getting back on. On long straights, gently lean forward on the bike for a speed boost which should take you past all of your competitors.
Race 2: Downtown Showdown
Head to Sunshine Autos, East of the airport where you can select a race from a pink marker next to a map in the back yard.
Prerequisites | Complete 'When Funday Comes' for Louise |
---|---|
Race Type | Car |
Laps | 2 |
Opponents | 3 |
Opponent Vehicles | Infernus |
Traffic | No |
Entrance Fee | $150 |
Reward | $600 |
The car races are a bit easier because there's no traffic to avoid but you'll still need to make sure you brake sharply for corners. I'd recommend using the regular brake all of the time and don't touch the handbrake as it's quite likely to make you spin out. Also try to stay away from the other racers. They're rubber-banded so it doesn't matter much if you spin them out, within a few checkpoints they'll be following you again.
Race 3: Port Sports
Head to Sunshine Autos, East of the airport where you can select a race from a pink marker next to a map in the back yard.

Race Type | Motorbike |
Laps | 2 |
Opponents | 3 |
Opponent Vehicles | PCJ-600 |

This track is a pretty basic loop around Viceport. Use handbrake turns to cut the corners slightly and be very careful as you approach the finish line on the final lap.
Race 4: Rum & Salsa Sting
Head to Sunshine Autos, East of the airport where you can select a race from a pink marker next to a map in the back yard.

---|---|
Race Type | Car |
Laps | 1 |
Opponents | 3 |
Opponent Vehicles | Stinger |
Traffic | No |

This is a race to the finish line. There's only one lap so you need to get in front and stay there. There's plenty of obstacles to avoid such as lampposts and kerbs so be careful. It's always better to slow down too much than to go into a corner with too much speed and waste seconds.
Race 5: Cuban Wheels
Head to Sunshine Autos, East of the airport where you can select a race from a pink marker next to a map in the back yard.
Prerequisites | Complete 'When Funday Comes' for Louise |
---|---|
Race Type | Motorbike |
Laps | 2 |
Opponents | 3 |
Opponent Vehicles | PCJ-600 |
Traffic | Yes |
Entrance Fee | $300 |

A short loop around Little Havana, with lots of twists and turns and lampposts to avoid. Stay with your competitors until the final few corners then cut them to get into first place.
Vice City Beach (East Island) Races
There are 4 races to complete on the East island; 2 motorbike races and 2 car races.
Race 6: Fools Rush
Head inside the Fairground in the central area of Vice City Beach where you can select a race from a pink marker next to a map behind one of the buildings.
Prerequisites | Complete 'When Funday Comes' for Louise (although you won't officially gain access to Vice City Beach until after "From Zero to Hero" unless you use the BMX Exploit) |
---|---|
Race Type | Car |
Laps | 2 |
Opponents | 3 |
Opponent Vehicles | Cheetah |
Traffic | No |
Entrance Fee | $350 |
Reward | $1400 |
Two laps around Vice Point and the mall. Much easier because there's no traffic. Get in the lead and stay there, braking hard for the corners.
Race 7: High Stakes Highway
Head inside the Fairground in the central area of Vice City Beach where you can select a race from a pink marker next to a map behind one of the buildings.
Prerequisites | Complete 'When Funday Comes' for Louise (although you won't officially gain access to Vice City Beach until after "From Zero to Hero" unless you use the BMX Exploit) |

Race Type | Motorbike |
Laps | 1 |
Opponents | 3 |
Opponent Vehicles | PCJ-600 |
Traffic | Yes |
Entrance Fee | $400 |
Reward | $1600 |
A single lap race around Southern Vice Point. Lots of straights for you to lean forward and gain a speed boost, but ultimately just stay in contention until the final corners and you should be able to see it home.
Race 8: Asphalt Assault
Head inside the Fairground in the central area of Vice City Beach where you can select a race from a pink marker next to a map behind one of the buildings.
Prerequisites | Complete 'When Funday Comes' for Louise (although you won't officially gain access to Vice City Beach until after "From Zero to Hero" unless you use the BMX Exploit) |
---|---|
Race Type | Motorbike |
Laps | 2 |
Opponents | 3 |
Opponent Vehicles | PCJ-600 |
Traffic | Yes |
Entrance Fee | $450 |
Reward | $1800 |
Two laps around Washington Beach. Be careful when you cross the bridge next to the police station not to take the corner too sharply because there's a large kerb that will probably knock you off your bike. Be very careful not to fall off as you approach the final few corners of the final lap as this was the only race I failed because I hit a lamppost near the end and couldn't catch back up in time.
Race 9: Supercharged Circuit
Head inside the Fairground in the central area of Vice City Beach where you can select a race from a pink marker next to a map behind one of the buildings.
Prerequisites | Complete 'When Funday Comes' for Louise (although you won't officially gain access to Vice City Beach until after "From Zero to Hero" unless you use the BMX Exploit) |
---|---|
Race Type | Car |
Laps | 2 |
Opponents | 3 |
Opponent Vehicles | Infernus |
Traffic | No |
Entrance Fee | $500 |
Reward | $2000 |
Two laps around Ocean Beach. Lots of twists and turns so a lot of braking to do. Don't let the other races pressure you into driving too fast. Slow and steady wins the race!
The Street Races are a requirement towards 100% completion.
