Hi there

Could someone please tell me how much a standard game for the xbox 360 takes?
TreeFitty
If you are talking about full games, they can be many gigs in size and tell you when downloading what size they are.

For saves, only numbers I could find are ~40mb when using discs (depends on the game and number of saves).

Does the game store itself on the HD or does the xbox play the game right off the cd and you save your save files etc

I don't know why it should be any different from PC games. Some games have everything installed and only use the disc to start the game, some games don't install everything.

I don't know what is more common, but I think most games install everything or almost everything on the HD.

And 4 GB is very little, a disk that small must be very old. The smallest capacity I've seen or heard about the last couple years is 80 GB. Now I guess you'll have to look hard to find anything less than 500 GB.

Forgot about this topic... The Xbox plays completely off the game disc as far as I know. Just keeps your save data on the hard disc.

Everything is okay, I own an a 360 black coloured one, with a hard disk that has 4GB only. No xbox live. I just play only a handful of games. Splinter Cell Conviction for example. happy.gif

Thanks.

The Xbox 360 does that?

TreeFitty
I don't expect someone without a console to know anything about them. You're on your own to do research.

edit: and don't take "completely" so literally. There's still some loading (smaller temporary stuff) but not kept on the hard drive.

I'm just checking if you have done your research. This thread is about the Xbox 360 and you responded like it was about the Xbox.

Common sense would tell you that saying Xbox in an Xbox 360 topic means Xbox 360, you don't have to use the full name. Just Xbox or just 360 are perfectly acceptable.

You can say that. But one reason I was in doubt, is that I think it's odd that the 360 don't install more content. What Fitty said is what I would expect from Xbox. And it also happens that people mis-read a topic title and give irrelevant answers.
Massacre
Consoles only use a few megabytes of space for your save data, it doesn't need to save any of the game's files, you just play off of the disk. The gigs of space are just for things you might download from Xbox Live.
TreeFitty
Xbox [360, derrrmon], yes. The PS3 does have an actual install time, though. But that's part of the DVD vs Blu Ray discussion. sleep.gif

Sorry, I assumed the 360 was similar to PS3 as far as installing games goes because they're the same generation. I guess I learned a little bit today.
GTA_SA
I know if you end up having to get a HD tv because the old one broke, you've got to purchase a HD cable for it to use the 360, does that also work with an original xbox?

I know there is also one for the PS3 and 2.

Can anyone tell me if xbox live is the only way to get a demo that is released. Are they not released with the Xbox magazine?
demon
I think the magazine will say what is included. I don't know that particular magazine, but magazines sometimes contain demos. And when they do, they usually say what is included on the cover or on the backside.

Massacre
OXM (Official Xbox Magazine) has a demo disk, but it's a waiting game when it comes to certain demos (I've gotten demos for games that released months ago), and some demos might never make it to the OXM disc at all.
GTA_SA
I was talking about Xbox magazines generally there aren't that many. I never buy them.

The official is released once a month, so that means next month their will be a new demo with it.

But for future reference, good to know.
