Full Version: riches to rags?

i know GTA is pretty much known for the whole "rags to riches" routine. but what about for the next GTA, u start out with riches and then go to rags and then have to work your way back up? i could just imagine the next protagonist living in one of those houses on Big Horn Drive in Alderney with the sports cars and what not. has millions of dollars, running some criminal syndicate of some kind and then, next thing you know, he's living in the kinda of apt Niko has on Mahesh and goes flat broke. i dont know, it just would seem like a change of setting, imo. i mean, with Niko, they really didnt follow the standard of setting when it comes to this. i read online that their goal for the storyline was for a "rags to better rags" kind of story and i think they made IV achieve that. but riches to rags is a concept i would like to see them do

Yeah it would be a good concept, but wouldn't what you described be riches to rags to riches again?

I think it would be cool start as a rich character, and maybe get double crossed or kidnapped and taken to a different city and you have to find connections to get back to your own city and gang etc... But i wouldn't like to go from a mansion in the start mission to a grotty flat that Niko has in the next... Would be the very opposite of rewarding.

hmm, touche'. it would just be starting at the top of the game, going to bottom, only to go back to the top... something to think about, though..

Well Nilo never made it to riches, maybe that's why many people were disappointed with IV so much. The Scarface cliché has always been the ultimate reward in a sandbox like GTA... i don't know why.

I'd be happy as a low life hitman, but doesn't come with the fame and riches, just gets on with his jobs.

there is millions of possible fun idea's for characters which doesn't involve rags to riches or the opposite.

i'd like to be a big boss guys hitman, similar to luis from the ballad of gay tony... doing all the grunt work for some bigshot... but, still reaping the benefits of the lifestyle... maybe the right hand man of a real estate developer...

a riches to riches kind of story...

Isn't this what Mafia II is going to offer? You never actually reach the top of the chain, but I think you get made.

I'd like to see R* try their hand at a real ghetto story again, where we start out in a shitty housing project, and we continue to do grunt work the whole game, eventually doing higher-profile jobs without attaining high-profile status, and getting an okay-looking semi-suburban house along the way, while having a couch or guest room to save at in some of the friendlier mission boss' houses/penthouses/mansions.

i have no clue what mafia II is like, TBH... but, i actually liked the premise of the ballad of gay tony and that's kind of how i was thinking the next GTA could play out... and being the right hand man of a crooked real estate developer could give you lots of creative directions, and also possibly introduce a property system again...

I definitely want to see some property acquisition like clubs, car showrooms, print makers etc! I think it would be nice if they also use the GTA interweb to advertise houses to buy. So like you could Pick a property to go look at and drive there and check it out, rather than them all being on the map once unlocked... just seems like more of a surprise, and more rewarding.
