Hi, this is an error report.

When I try to log in on the main site, I get an error message telling me I'm using wrong password.

The error code is on the image.

When I go to the forum page and try to log in here, the same password does work. So why does it not work on the main page?

I almost never log out so it's not often I run into this. But it is an error nevertheless.
It occurs both with Opera and IE.
Cookies ARE enabled in both browsers.

----------------------------------------------------------------

I do also have another issue that has nothing to do with logging in, but for all I know this problem could be related to the login error.

This other problem is that when I open the browser and go directly to the main page, the page will not load. Sometimes it will load, either fast or slow. But about 50% of the time it simply won't load. It seems as the server is not responding when this happens.

If I go to the forum first and from there click to the main page, it works perfectly.

Has the log in thing always happened or is it a recent thing to occur?

I have never been able to log in on the front page.

Does your password have weird symbols in it? Or is it all numbers and letters?
demon
Yes it has symbols in it. Hmm that could be why?

In the beginning I only had characters in the password and I wonder if it did work then. Yes I think it did.

I'm sure you don't need anyone to tell you to change it then do you? happy.gif

Yes I will change the password now and then, but not now. And I will continue to use strong passwords.
As I said I almost never log in. I await a bug fix and in the meantime my strong password works on the forum login.

I'll look into it for you. If you could send me a private message with the symbols in your password (not the whole password), then I'll work out why it's messing up. Usually it's because when you submit data through a form, special symbols are converted into HTML codes for security etc.

e.g.
a double quote (") becomes "
or an ampersand (&) becomes &

So if stuff like that was happening, it's not going to give an exact match with your password in the database.

It shouldn't happen for most symbols, but there may be a few that are glitching it up so if you let me know what they are I'll see what I can do.

I agree with having a strong password, mine is like 16 characters long with random letters, numbers and symbols, with various random letters capitalized. No way anyone could ever guess it and it would take weeks to brute force it.

Thanks for that! I'll send a pm now.
It would be really bad if someone stole the webmaster's account, so it's good that you take this seriously. A certain mofo have stolen alot of accounts lately, he won't steal ours. wink.gif

Aha! On some other forums there's alot of " to be seen in archived topics, I always wondered how the quotes could be som messed up.

That other problem is a bit random and I guess Psy would have said something if he had an idea what caused it. Traffic jam on the web? Not very likely because it never happens in other situations than the one I described.

One time it would not load, I made Opera identify itself as Firefox and then restarted the loading with the F5 key. The page then loaded. But maybe it would have worked on the second attempt anyway, I can't say for sure it helped to identify as Firefox.

I do know that in many cases where Opera does not work on other websites, it is because the site does not send the same information to Opera as to other browsers. I'm not so sure this can be the case here because the problem occurs a bit random.
