I'm pretty new to GTA SA and wondered about skill advancement for driving cars - is it required that you stop at red lights and stay in your lane to advence quicker? Jumpy.gif I'm rather a speed demon when it comes to getting across town for pimp runs and such things snf (31).gif

Of course not! This is GTA! sleep.gif

Just drive around as usual. Although the driving schools will increase it quicker.

The Driving School when completed will open more missions (not needed to complete the game.)
Driving in the game should be Insane compared to real life.
Cut corners, drive acrose lawns & cross country, jump cliffs, drive through fences, hedges (where allowed), Pass traffice in no passing zones. Zip around cops, Run down enemy drug dealers & gangmembers (jump out and gather money, weapons, ammo),

Be sure to do the Burglary Missions to give CJ Infinate Sprint.
and Do the Firefighting Missions to make CJ Fireproof.
and if you want cash do the Taxi Missions (as many in a row for bonus' as you can. Fatten CJ before you start.)
The Taxi missions will really show you how to Go Wild Driving.

Lol. There's only two rules in the traffic:

1) Don't bump into cop cars.
2) Don't hit and run.

This means:

1) DO bump into cop cars. It'll give you a wanted level which will make you drive long distances in no time.

And while you do the above:

2) DO hit and run. This will up your wanted level and you'll drive even faster. tongue.gif

Seriously: I think the only parameter for driving skill is distance driven.

Thanks. kinda what I figured, but I didn't know, and maybe it was a dumb ass question anyway.
I'll contenue to go balls to the walls and screw 'em if they get in my way. I'll just open up on 'em with my micro-smg when they bump back, lol.

P.S. - I like it when there is 4 or more stars! I've just recently figured out you can get a haircut and lose the stars ( or buy a hat ) easier than trying to find a safe house for sure! Helps when doing the Vigilantly thing. ( sorry my spelling is atrocious, TG4SC )

Be sure to spend some time on foot.
Look into any building you can, Under bridges, in alleys, on roofs
Keep an eye out for spinning Weapons and body Armour... ALL FREE, and there is lots of it.
Walking through it should pick it up. If you already have something in the slot you may have to press the action Key to change the item.
If you killed for it just walk through it to collect the ammo. Listen for the beep to acknowledge the pick-up.

i always thought the driving skill went up from regular driving, weaving in and out of traffic and such, but you werent hitting other cars or people?

Again, last post was in January. Be sure to check out the more recent games that Rockstar has released.

When I played the game a couple years ago, I can't remember that I gained any skills for driving boats? Do you earn skill for boat driving? I think I remember that I earned skills for several types of vehicles.
