I rented it this morning.

First of all i was in luck because the guy in store forgot to remove the free redeem code from the case so i got the DLC with it too! First come first served lol.

Anyway, I put it on, and had the choice of difficulties. I decided what the hell i may as well play it on hard. So i did.

I've played it enough now to say that i really do like it. The world is very immersive and the sounds and the songs playing radio stations really fit well with each chapter. As stated on the reviews, there is little to do in the world other than collecting porno mags and things and fixing up your cars and buying clothes, but hey, that doesn't really bother me.

The main thing that carries this game is obviously the story. It is well played out and has quite a few references to mafia films. The story has been pretty predictable so far, but nether-the-less is still very fun to play. There is some nice chapters which i didn't expect and some really cool shoot-out locations. The way the chapters advance through the years works really well, and it moves at a steady pace, not too fast and not too slow. The weather also helps to add that atmosphere that really defines each chapter's feel.

My only main issue with the game is the length. In this day and age we do expect quite a lot in a sandbox game, and each chapter moves at a good pace, but still feels overall like there isn't a huge amount to it. i'm only at chapter 9 and i think there is 15, but idid that all in one day on hard mode, so i'm kind of glad i didn't rush in and spend 40 on it straight away. But, the story is pretty engrossing if you like that sort of thing, and I'm sure I'll play through it again a couple more times.

In a nut shell, I'm glad i got to play this game, i related it to GTA3's Mafia missions at certain point, which was a nice nostalgic feeling. There has been some funny moments, some hard times, and also some macho feeling moments. I think that if you are hesitant in buying this game, then sure as hell rent it at least, because you'll be pleasantly surprised by how the story plays out.

I've still not completed it yet, but this is my first impression. Also, i haven't tried the DLC, but i have downloaded it. So I'll talk about that once i have test driven it.

I'm going to rate it like this:

Gameplay 8/10

Story 9/10

Sound 10/10

Graphics (PS3) 7.5/10
Qdeathstar
I've played the game on the ps3 for about an hour and so far its not as good as GTA4 or Just Cause 2.
DuPz0r
Not as good as GTA but Just Cause 1 & 2 were pure shit. Sorry but i hated it anyway. I think they could have improved this game a lot, but it's still not as bad as just cause imo. I guess Mafia II is an acquired taste... i happen to really like it.

I'm up to chapter 12 now and I'm really engrossed. So much shit has happened to Vito, it's crazy.
bOnEs
haha soooo laugh.gif... i walk into family video to rent naughty bear, or just cause 2 if naughty bear wasn't there... sure enough, it wasn't... i've been there 4 times since it released and it has never been there... why they have one copy is beyond me when i see 3 copies for most games... then, as i look up, i see one copy left for mafia II... i look over at just cause 2 and see all 3 copies available and think to myself, "this might be my best chance to play this"...

so here i sit, ready to partake in the life of vito... i did say i'd rent this game one day but, i didn't think it would be this soon... but, i can't pass up a golden opportunity like that, especially if the game i wanted to originally rent wasn't there... lol, i even checked the boxes to see if someone left behind the exclusive DLC code but, no luck biggrin.gif...

dup, you lucky bastard...
DuPz0r
lol. I think the DLC is designed to fill in the missing gaps in the free-roam sandbox experience as far as i can tell. Still haven't played it, but it just seems that way...

When i said the story was predictable before, i kinda take that back, there has been some things i didn't expect too tbh.
bOnEs
it's a little slow to start off... lol, i got a trophy for helping some lady fix her car since her deadbeat husband couldn't :lol... that's when i decided to look at the trophy list... the one thing i noticed so far is the scripted events that happen around you... the game might seem empty driving around but, the ambient sounds and the little events that pop up make the game seem more alive than most reviewers mention... but, i can sense the emptiness when driving around... walking the streets is a different story...

i just reached the docks and thought about taking a quick break... but, so far it's decent but, nothing exciting has happened yet so, i am just barely scratching the surface... plus, i tend to take longer playing games so, it might be a while for me before the game hit the gas biggrin.gif...
DuPz0r
Trust me, as you only rented it and didn't pay full price for it, you'll appreciate the quality of the game more. It's not half as bad as the reviews made it out to be. Buying the game seems to be a different story since it's just not long enough. But what you get, even though it's small, is great fun.
bOnEs
you already beat it, huh?? yea, i see some enjoyment out of it, i mean, i did want to play it after all... but, it does seem like the only thing to do is advance the story... but, i already knew that anyways...
DuPz0r
Nah i haven't beat it yet. I almost did, but i got tired at 2am and decided to play the last chapter today.

There are quite a few trophies to collect still. Btw, you can go back chose each chapter from the load menu. Which is good in case you missed anything. I dunno if i'll be able to get platinum though, due to the wanted posters and porn mag locations, they're just gonna take too long to find them all.

/Edit

Ok i have completed it now, and i think the ending was pretty blunt and fits the Mafia scenario. I've got to go back and collect some of the trophies i missed, including the one where you help the women fix her car. Where was she, near the start of the chapter when you're walking home, or after that?

I had a little go at the Jimmy Vendetta DLC, and it basically consists of you (Jimmy) shooting up a load of bad guys while trying to get to point B. You get points and a multiplier if killing guys in quick succession. That's all I've played of it so far so it could get better... To be honest i just wanted to get back into the story so i wasn't that bothered with it at the time.
bOnEs
replaying the chapters is a pretty cool idea... for some reason, not many games give you that option... i would tell you where to find the lady or how to shut off the alarm but, it looks like you've already done that according to your facebook page laugh.gif...

how many nudie mags did you find on your first run through the game?? i've found 3 so far and i am into chapter 5 i think... i can't remember where i left off last night because, i was getting pretty fucking drunk and finished the night off with some online GTA madness...

EDIT: you know what dup, it might be worth a rental in the future for a couple of days... if all you have left is the mags and posters by then, you could get your platinum with another quick rental... that's what i did with heavy rain biggrin.gif... all i had left to do with that game was a couple chapter related trophies and seeing all the endings...

i don't think i'll get platinum because, i would have to play through the game again because, i am playing on medium difficulty... i am however optimistic that i can get the dragon age: origins trophy before new vegas... and possibly the RDR one if i can ever find a way to create an 8-man posse... we need better turnouts for our multiplayer events... SHIT, which reminds me, i forgot to set one up this week... i guess it'll have to wait until next monday sad.gif....

I got about 10 mags first time through and i got 0 wanted posters XD.png. Once you complete it you get to see what ones you're missing in the Extra's section in the start-up menu.

I'm planning on getting the platinum this time round! i only need 4 more trophies i think!
bOnEs
damn, your kicking ass at this game!! the one trophy that has me leery is the one that says you have to drive your car at 30 MPH or above for 5 straight minutes... i looked at the map and driving on the highway isn't exactly going to get it for you... the highway ends in two places...

and the one that states you must stay wanted for 10 minutes... this might actually be easier than the other one since it's fairly easy to lose or kill the cops... but, it's still a challenge biggrin.gif...
DuPz0r
I used the highway. I started where it curved onto the highway near the middle of the map, and i drove around it at 40mph so i didn't run out of road. I got the trophy by the time i got to the tunnel.

For the stay wanted for 10 minutes i found a bullet proof security van and just killed a few cops and drove round mowing down police cars and they cant touch you for shit.
bOnEs
so, now that i looked at the trophy list again, and read your write-ups, i think the one that asks you to drive 30 different vehicles could be the toughest one... unless there's a checklist somewhere but, how would you know if you've driven one when your out traveling around?? sounds like a toughy...

chapter 6 and 7 were a blast!! 6 was a cool take on an old common theme with mafia movies... and 7 was goodfellas all over again, but with a touch more humor laugh.gif...
DuPz0r
Yeah, i loved chapter 7, really brought back memories of goodfellas. Might watch it before bed tonight.
bOnEs
one thing that kind of bugs me is there's not a whole lot of gun fighting... i think i've only been in a few shootouts so far... one thing does ring true from the reviews, there's a ton of driving people around... at least sometimes it's entertaining, like in chapter 7 laugh.gif...

i think i am taking a break from it for now... i've been paying for about 3 hours straight... need some fresh air laugh.gif...
DuPz0r
Yeah there are some big shoot-outs later in the game, but there is always a lot of driving around. Btw, Chapter 8 is a little bit of a Goodfellas homage as well.

Oh i have 25 playboy mags now out of 50. And all those wanted posters... Looks like it'll be a long night.
bOnEs
wow, going for the platinum tonight!?!?... how many more nights do you have the game for?? and good luck with finding 30 different cars to drive laugh.gif...
DuPz0r
I did the 30 cars trophy about half an hour ago. I guess i got lucky and saw a bus which i hadn't driven before. So i jumped in and then the trophy ping'd at me. I have 30 playboy mags and i only need to get around 15 miles on my car to get the 50 miles in one car trophy. I'll easily get that whilst looking for the wanted posters.

I have it until next Friday, but i'm going to my father-in-law's tomorrow for a couple of days to find a house in that area, so I'm going to try and go for the platinum tonight/tomorrow morning.
DiO
Not reading your assholes posts in case of spoilers but I played the demo and it was sick. I should rent it.
DuPz0r
I've not really given anything away Dio.

I've just went through he entire game again on easy and collected all the playboy mags except for 1! now i have to find out which chapter it's on and go seek that shit out

I got it now.

I can't find a complete guide to getting all of the posters in Empire bay, so i think i might have to give it a miss until i decide to rent it out again, unless one is out by the end of this week! There is no way I'm going to find all 159 of them running around aimlessly, it's too time consuming.
bOnEs
159 of them?! holy shit, that's like going for the pigeons in GTAIV...

i just finished chapter 10, and took care of joe's situation at the lone star... now THAT was a fun mission... every now and then, there's something fun to do... the rest of the time, it's just mindless driving and killing... i am on the home-stretch so to speak with the missions... i have a feeling what i just did is going to cause a huge ripple in the storyline...

and trophies galore!! it seems like i unlock at least two trophies every chapter... one for the story, and one for something else i did... upgrade the ride, buy an expensive suit, crush some cars, etc... an di've logged about 30 miles on the first car you get in the game... even though it's not the best car in the garage, it does have the most mileage so, i am sticking with it...
DuPz0r
Platinum'D in 23 hours and 46 minutes! lol. i did play it for an inhuman amount of time these last two days tbh.

biggrin.gif

Hey Adam let me know when you get through chapter 11, because there is multiple outcomes.
bOnEs
you must of found a wanter poster guide, eh?? biggrin.gif... congrats though on another platinum... that's what, 3 platinums in like 2 weeks laugh.gif... god damn that's amazing...

i did chapter 11 last night, while i was drunk... i got pissed off a couple of times because i died a few times in completely different places and had to re-do large chunks of it... i was expecting to play it this morning but when your drunk, you do things instantly when you want to laugh.gif... it was way too late last night to be playing this but i did anyways...

so, your telling me there's multiple endings with this game?? kind of makes sense seeing how that mission played out... getting into a fight with fran's BF and sneaking out with leo (which i failed to do lol because i was drunk laugh.gif)... i can see some things changing if i failed that fight or, if i managed to sneak leo out of his place...

EDIT: FUCK THE FUCKING HEALTH BAR AND OTHER RANDOM FUCKING SHIT!! i am on the final mission, me and joe just freed ourselves and are now moving down the construction site... i had to turn this game off before i fucking threw my remote through the TV... i died twice trying to rob stores for money so i scratched that idea... i died twice at derek's docks by random positioning by the enemies... i died twice on my way to the car crusher, once by hitting a car a little too fast, and once by the cops because i hit a car and they followed me all the way to the crusher... i got out, resisted arrest and they fucking killed me... and now i've died three fucking times in this construction site...

where was this difficultly during the rest of the game?!?! it's been a breeze up to this point and now nothing is working right... i get killed by the most random enemy placements and from hitting cars... i need a break from this... i sure hope the game loads up where it last saved... if i have to do this entire chapter again, i might just explode...
DuPz0r
Lol sounds like you're having a streak of bad luck. At the end i just robbed a couple of gun stores and then crushed two cars and then i had enough cash.

I dunno about multiple endings what i meant was: In chapter 11 when you have to save Leo, you can either hide somewhere in the house; shower, wardrobe, under bed etc. Or you can run around till you get caught, or you can grab the sheets upstairs round the back to tie together and escape without being caught.

What i did was: The first time, i ran around and couldn't find where to go, and i finally decided to hide under the bed. There was a funny little cut-scene where Vito and Leo joked about it working in the movies. We got caught anyway... The second time i managed to find the sheets in a bucket and escaped round the back in Leo's Ascot car.

Also, Leo is an old pervert, he has two playboy mags in his house, one on the window sil in the main upstairs area, and the other in his on-sweet bathroom!

oh btw, in the end i found the travel 50 miles in one car trophy the most annoying pain in the arse. If you play a chapter and then reload it, your miles will reset to the way it was when you first played it! Same if you crash or leave your car alone. I got so pissed when collecting the posters. I had got to 45miles on it and i had to refill it with gas, which is the first time i ever needed to do that. And i hit a ped in-front of a cop car. i had like fuck all money to bribe and i was getting shot anyway so tried to drive away, i got three cop cars after me and i was traveling down the free-way at 80mph. One of the cars managed to keep up with me and knocked me into the railing and my car dived off into a pillar killing me instantly. It restarted the chapter and reset my mileage! I was so fucking pissed off. In the end i just went to the mile long bridge and just drove around it liek a track until i ran low on gas, then repeated until i got the trophy... took about 45minutes...
Darth Sexy
I can't be arsed actually reading the topic, but I'm sure it was very interesting. Mafia was a game I always meant to play but never did. Is Mafia 2 worth getting?
DuPz0r
As mentioned above by me and b0nEs, the game is short and doesn't feel like it's worth paying full price for. But, we rented it and I'm sure i'd buy it cheaper later down the line just to play the DLC some more.

The game is story driven, and there isn't much to it outside the story. But the story is very entertaining at times, and is certainly worth playing.
bOnEs
yea, i think i just had some rough luck at the game yesyerday but, i needed to vent it out... i haven't played it since though, i needed a day to cool off... but, i will keep that stuff in mind when i do chapter 11 again... i wouldn't mind seeing the different outcomes and hilarious dialog biggrin.gif...

and yea, rent the game, darth... you'll enjoy it more knowing you only payed a few bucks to play it... $60 is a bit overkill for such a short game with no incentive to replay... at least it's not as short as kane & lynch 2, i heard that one can be beaten in 4 hours...
bOnEs
finished...

i'm sorry but, i found the final few chapters to be more of a chore than anything resembling fun... i don't know how many times i died because the enemies decided to change their patterns on these chapters... all of sudden they try to appear behind me... all of sudden they decide they can shoot thru walls... all of a sudden they decide to rush me... and you can only take a couple shots before you have to hide behind cover for a few seconds... and if your hit by a shotgun or automatic up close, your dead period... i don't know if they adjusted the health to compensate for the lack of strategy or skill but, it worked... not only was it hard near the end but, it made me want to throw the remote so many damn times...

i am done with this game... i don't even want to try hunting for more trophies... i tried to after the credits rolled and i wanted to throw the remote again over some random shit that happened in the world... i managed to get a few but, after i failed for the 5th time to exceed 125 MPH and crashed and burned and died every time, i said fuck it and turned it off for good... i am taking this piece of shit back a day early... i don't want to ever play it again...

what a shame too because the story was great... here's my final verdict:

graphics: 8 - not too shabby... nice lighting and the city is vibrant and the animations look good... but, up close things look kind of plain... this game is best taken in while cruising down the streets... the environments take in some nice damage and stuff will start to fall apart over time... it's a nice touch...

story: 9 - this is what keeps you continuing to play... once you finish one chapter, the next one picks up right where that one left off and immediately thrusts you into the next set of objectives... it keeps the game moving along at a nice brisk pace... and it's very engaging and pretty much everything you would think a mafia movie would have...

gameplay: 5 - this is worst part of the game... the driving is sloppy, the strategy consists of popping out to shoot a couple shots and returning to cover for 5 seconds to regenerate health because the enemies usually don't miss... rinse and repeat until all the enemies are gone... and all your doing for most of the game is driving around at the speed limit taking people places... the gun fights don't really start kicking in until later in the game... it's a shame too because the cover system and the weapons work well and there should of been more of it... but, the shitty health system really hurts this... and the fact that it can get a bit repetitive at times as well...

sound: 9 - also one of the best parts of the game... the music, the cars, the guns, the voice-overs, the sounds on the streets... it really is a great experience to take in if you have a home theater system... this is one of the reasons why the world itself kind of sucks you in... it's just a shame the rest of the game doesn't...

replay value: - 3 - utter shit... once you've beaten it, there's no reason to return unless you want to trophy hunt/get all the achievements... and even then, you might kick yourself for trying it because, you'll just get pissed off again... and there's nothing to do outside of the story... for a sandbox game that's a huge disappointment...

final verdict: 6.8 - good story and decent gameplay but, the rest really brings down the overall experience... worth a rental and definitely passable if there is another game your interested in...
DuPz0r
So, what did you think about the way it ended? i was kind of disappointed by the ending, it didn't really have much closer, and it is a shame about Joe. They didn't really tell you if he was killed or not, but it more or less meant he was being whacked. I guess that's how it is int he Mafia, completely relentless and no remorse for friends.

Over-all though, i think i had a better experience than you did. I wasn't put off by the Ai, and i was playing it on hard. I still think i could play through the story again just because i enjoyed following Vito's life for those few chapters. I go home Thursday so i'll be playing the DLC "The betrayal of jimmy" before i take it back on Friday.
bOnEs
i liked the ending and i saw it coming when joe took the offer from carlo... as soon as they walked outside and i saw two cars, i thought, ohh shit... poor joe... they knew he took a deal with carlo to save his own ass... and that's how the mafia works, they know everything and even past actions are documented and recorded... to be honest, i almost expected vito to get wacked as well... maybe he still will...

yea, my experience turn to shit in the final 5 hours... right in the middle of chapter 11 is when the game suddenly turned for the worse... it wasn't the story, it was the gameplay that nearly broke the game for me... the story was a top notch mafioso experience... i enjoyed it from the beginning to the end and i really enjoyed some of the chapters as well... but the unforgiving health system, buggy AI, and boring driving experience really hurt it's overall presentation for me...

there's enjoyment to be had with this game, don't get me wrong... it just wasn't there for me down the stretch...
DuPz0r
One thing that did fuck me off was when you have to kill that guy in the docks, and he throws infinite amounts of Molotov's from the top floor while loads of goons come down railing you with Tommy guns. It was pretty difficult but that was on hard, so i dunno what i was like for you, but i was getting frustrated with it. Apart from that one thing, my experience was great.

I played "Betrayal of Jimmy" a little the other day, and noticed the shops were in different places, and the clothes were a lot different from Vito's in the main story. I'm pretty sure there was new cars too...

After the Betrayal of Jimmy, it only makes sense that Mafia 2 players would be present for Jimmy's Vendetta. 2K Games announced today that the next piece of Mafia 2 DLC will be available on September 7 for $9.99 on PC and PS3, and 800 Microsoft Points on Xbox 360.

"Jimmy's Vendetta" adds "more than 30 new quests and leaderboard ranking" as players step into the role of Jimmy, taking care of business left unfinished by other mobsters. As you progress through the series of assassinations and car chases, we'll find out if the storyline sets up our idea for the next content pack, "Let's Leave Jimmy Alone for a While, He's Had Kind of a Rough Couple of Days."
bOnEs
yea, dereck was a bit of a bitch to deal with in the warehouse at the docks... i actually didn't die in there surprisingly... i stayed as far back as i could for a while until i realized the enemies would stop appearing once i got closer... he was throwing the moltovs, even on medium...

$60? Stupid Americans and their affordable games. Try $100 in Australia. Having read some of the last posts, I think I may give this one a miss. Thank you for stopping me spending money smile.gif
bOnEs
jesus christ, not only does australia ban a lot of the good games but, they charge an arm and a leg!! fuck man, rent it if you can but, i am afraid that in australia it costs $10 a night... so, never mind...
DuPz0r
Jesus, why is the price so high in Australia, is everything that expensive out there or is it just games?

Games are around 40-50 over here which works out as $75-$85 AUD. So you're paying a good 20% more on games over there!

And the damn US get games the cheapest...
bOnEs
$60 doesn't feel cheap at all... it feels like i am getting raped...
DuPz0r
$60 works out around 38-40 at the moment, which i guess isn't much cheaper, but with big games we end up getting charged 45-50 which is around $70-$75. So you guys do get it cheaper than us most of the time.

I'm going to play the DLC today, just got back so i'm gonna play it some tonight before i take it back. oh and i got some good news, i found a flat, so I'm moving in next week.

Did you think Take-Two's Mafia 2 would slip off the top spot in the UK charts after one week? Well, fuhgeddaboudit -- Chart-Track notes that despite a 23 percent drop in sales, the crime sandbox maintained its Godfather status. Last week, the publisher announced that it expects the game to continue being a good earner.

Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days maintained its silver status with Nintendo's Wii Sports Resort rallying into bronze (thanks to a Wiimote bundle). Sales stalwarts Toy Story 3 and Red Dead Redemption remain in fourth and fifth, respectively.

It appears that the time for one of Ubisoft's Dance titles is over. Older brother Just Dance is still jammin' at seventh, but Dance on Broadway has a bum leg and laryngitis, slipping even further this week down to 22.

Check out last week's top 10 selling titles in the UK after the break.

Top 10 UK Software Sales (All Formats); week ending September 4:
Mafia 2
Kane and Lynch 2: Dog Days
Wii Sports Resort
Toy Story 3
Red Dead Redemption
Wii Sports Resort
Just Dance
Super Mario Galaxy 2
Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands
Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X. 2

I guess this game is more successful than we thought it would be here in the UK. Mind you its only competitors at the moment aren't really much to compete against. ( the newer releases that is.)
bOnEs
they picked a great time to release it... kane & lynch isn't much of a competitor... the amazing thing is how red dead redemption is still holding on to a firm grasp in the top 10... that game is still selling like crazy!! it's even ahead of the wii sports resort game and nothing could beat the first wii sports game on the charts...

but yea, there's not much competition this time of year... it's that small window between the summer and fall releases... the movie industry goes through the same thing, that's why they save movies like expendables and machete for the end of the summer because, they know they won't compete with the big dogs but, they'll do fine on their own later in the year...

kane & lynch's numbers are pretty good too for a game that was shot down by the critics as well...

Mafia 2 banned in United Arab Emirates

According to a report from ME Gamers, the United Arab Emirates National Media Council has officially banned the sale of Mafia 2 within its borders. No statement has been issued by the NMC regarding the ban.

Mafia 2 joins a laundry list of other titles deemed inappropriate by the UAE's media governance body, including this year's Heavy Rain and Darksiders. That said, reports in the past have pointed out the relative ease with which UAE residents can still pick up various "banned" games.

Mafia 2 has been criticized by UNICO National, an Italian American organization, as a "pile of racist nonsense." The game was also criticized by Joystiq for forcing us to spend "way too much time in shallow block-counter-repeat fistfights or behind the wheel of a clunky automobile."

Lol, i wonder why it was banned.
Qdeathstar
Meh. The game is good. But not great.

Throughtout the entire game, i thought the story was much better than GTA 4. But the ending was a major dissapointment. It was almost as if the developers said "we gotta meet the deadline, we'll just end it here". I mean, if it was GTA4 vegence would have been made. Also, the last mission was too easy compared with someone the other missions. Several times i thought "This was the end of the game because the mission is hard" but nope, this mission was. A mini-gunfight and a couple of cut scenes...

Also, the guns the game had were better than GTA 4 in the since that they all felt different. With exception of the gernades. They were totally useless. You couldn't aim them for shit. Also, the amount of weaponry was dissapointing.

The game had snow unlike GTA 4 but it seemed like that was the only benifit having snow gave to the game. It "had" it but there was no effect on gameplay. GTA 4 beats mafia 2 on almost every other facit. I kinda think that Mafia 2 was still a funner game that GTA4 because i liked the storry better and wasn't dissapointed until the very end of the game
bOnEs
wow, you didn't find it frustrating that in the final mission, the enemies decided to change their tactics?! that drove me nuts... i was used to moving cover to cover when my cover got destroyed, and continued to shoot from cover, same with the enemies... instead for me on the final mission, the enemies gave up on taking cover and decided to rush me... i didn't like that one bit...
PabloHoneyOle
I just picked up a copy online - should be here later today or tomorrow.

Looking forward to playing, despite some of the negative reviews.

wow, you didn't find it frustrating that in the final mission, the enemies decided to change their tactics?! that drove me nuts... i was used to moving cover to cover when my cover got destroyed, and continued to shoot from cover, same with the enemies... instead for me on the final mission, the enemies gave up on taking cover and decided to rush me... i didn't like that one bit...

Well.. I mean it was a narrow hallway, all you had to do is stand there with a machine gun and blast them as three of them at a time came out of cover... wasn't exactly hard to accomplish. Then to take cover you just ran backwards, since it was a circle...

I just picked up a copy online - should be here later today or tomorrow.

Looking forward to playing, despite some of the negative reviews.

It's still fun just not AAA...

well yea but, the enemies never miss with their shots so, it doesn't exactly leave you with enough time to mow them down before you have to take cover again, which is impossible to do when they are running right up on you... i guess i was the only one that struggled mightily on that final mission... i hope i never play this game again... i spent more time frustrated with the health system than i did enjoying the shootouts... i hated having to take cover for 5 seconds every single time i stuck my head out to shoot someone... it brought the action to a screeching halt on 95% of the shootouts...

the shootouts were fun but the health system sucked balls, which made the shootouts suck at times as well...

Stocking up for the winter.

Haven't BEAT Reach, but on the final mission. I'll be keeping that for the multiplayer.

I didn't really plan on getting Mafia 2, atleast not this soon, but someone on CheapAssGamer.com was selling their copy cheap, plus I had some extra cash from selling my Halo Reach DLC codes. I got the game and 2 packs of DLC. I might just put them on eBay when I get them and see if I can get some flow for Fable III, Fallout NV and Dead Rising 2. I dunno, I am kind of overwhelmed with games and underwhelmed with time I have to play.

I imagine I could drop some serious time into Mafia 2, it may be enough to keep my busy until price drops on Fable III and DR2; but Fallout NV is a day 1 pick up for me.

Saw a review on tv today. He said the game was very fun to begin with, but the fun didn't last and it was no competitor to GTA games. Mafia 2 got a mediocre 3/5 score.
