I agree !!!
TwoFacedTanner
Would it be so bad if they brought back Los Santos? I mean Vice City is the shit...but Los Santos/Vice City...Kinda similar anyway as both are cities with beaches.
TreeFitty
Hawaii. It has volcanoes. even better match with the poster. tongue.gif

hollywood (vinewood) is the latest rumor... i think that'd be a kick-ass place for the next GTA...

Where is the source of this rumour?

I think they'll do what makes them the most money. And that will be to make; LS, SF, LV, VC all as separate games. Thinking from a business point of view...

vice city is just more badass

I would love to see Vice City and San Andres again. I know people think that's just the same old but I don't think so, VC would be awesome in this gen. the only thing is I would feel like they would have to set the game in the 80s again.

See thats the thing, everyone is wanting Vice City again because they loved the old Vice City. A new Vice City would be nothing like the old one. They most likely wouldn't put it in the 80s, Tommy would be nowhere around and again everything about the old Vice City would be gone. Don't get me wrong I have nothing against Vice City, I just feel everyone is wanting it for the wrong reasons.

Yeah but what's wrong with doing a pre-80's game. As in 1970's. Just because GTAIV was present/near future doesn't mean they'll stick with that through this generation. But, there could be a pattern here. GTAIII was also set in present time/near future. So they could make Vice City in the exact same 80's period, but with completely new characters, stories etc. As it's a new world which they made clear with GTAIV and didn't have any old character cross-overs.

To be honest, the 1980's was Florida's best period, nothing interesting has happened there since. So the only historical thing they can use is the Cuban crime wave.
TreeFitty
Well, pattern-wise it would be VC in the 90's. And then SA in the early 2000's. tongue.gif

Scuse me?

Might work.

Wouldn't work.
Massacre
If they didn't take it seriously, SA could work. Three years after the murder of Mad Dog (Tupac or Biggie reference, I guess.) his brother gets a lead on the killer, blah blah blah...

I dunno, I just don't feel like either city right now. The annoying 'celebutante' theme from TBOGT would permeate the whole game in SA, and like Dup said, nothing good has happened in Miami since the 80's. Really, almost every city has been uneventful as of late. Then again, GTA IV didn't revolve around a real-world event, except for the war that didn't play into the game much.
ViceMan
But GTA also draws a lot of inspiration from various films and other fiction, so it doesn't necessarily have to be rooted in actual events.

So what other decent gangster films haven't GTA paid homage to yet?

Donnie Brasco? The Departed? Casino? Reservoir Dogs? There is still a lot of decent films to draw inspiration from i guess. But the period is always important. Because it does set the tone for that period.

/edit ooo my 1000th post!
Miller_x
I don't care if it's the 70's, 80's, 90's or present time. Vice city would look nothing like it did before. But it would still kick ass

Then it would be like Saints Row...
Massacre
Yeah, but the free-roaming would still be better than GTA IV. God-awful story, though...

I loved those SA-MP mods because you could make your own race tracks. I wish they did something cool like that in the next GTA!

Other than that, i honestly think they'll stick to present day for the entire series on current platform, unless they don't sell well, then they may go back and rethink about going back into different eras.
