I thought i'd share some of the projects i've been up to the last month.

First week, we had to make a simple pacman image:

Week 2, i had to produce a room corner with a fish bowl:

Week 3, i had to create an underwater sea creature scene:

Week 4, i needed to create my own pod racer in a scene:

WiP;
I'm working on a Tudor Concept art which i will be making in 3D in the next two weeks.

comment/crit if you will.

They all look sweet. For the second one with the room corner, the background out the window doesn't really match the camera angle. Just a small thing.

Also, do you have to create all the objects yourself or are some pre-made? Like the fish for instance.
Marney1
Shadows on the second one don't look right and why is the rug misshaped? Still impressive though.
The Awesome One
I remember when I was 14 using a progam that done something like that. We were making a phone. I couldnt even get the shape straight and neat, let alone add graphics that good.
Keep up the good work mate. smile.gif

Yeah i know, we only have like the weekend to create these each week. None of the objects were pre-made, i made the mini shark and the fish bowl too.

The rug was just a quick photo texture so it wasn't in line with the model. We hadn't actually been taught how to texture yet, so i was just using my initiative at that point.

excellent work then.
DuPz0r
Thanks guys. I'll have something a little more interesting to post once i learn how to do 3D animation smile.gif
Marney1
I'm looking forward to some animated scenes from you, any idea when you'll get to that point?
DuPz0r
I'm learning the basics of 3d animation next week. I've been doing a lot of 2d fundamentals atm. So maybe in a month or two i should have something cool to show.
Ex-PS Fanboy
Very nice @ all of them. I just started 3D animation in tech, (even though I missed half the unit) but I can't get the feel of the program, I find it way to complex and half the time my projects don't save...

Great work. I hate myself for not doing something artistic with my college experience. Business Management is for assholes.

It's never too late to learn something new, surely there's a part time/evening course you could find if you have the spare time.
Indy
That's dope.
DuPz0r
This is my first use of animation lol:

http://www.vimeo.com/7611150
Password to watch it is: dupz09 (this is to stop everyone seeing my crap work lol)

Nothing special, but i had to render 250 still images to make it! Took ages.

250 stills to do that? It's going to be quite a drawn out course DuPz!
TreeFitty
Good to see they're making you do stop motion. Nice house btw.
anomalous_result
You'll learn more economical methods for anim, or did you render at 1080p? Anyway props, I played around with blender a few years back (Big Buck Bunny?) but bummed out of the scene as it became basically pro. If you didn't know how to script in python and have a mini-render farm you were always playing catch-up.

First week - yeah it's your first week but shows creativity with a limited skillset

2nd is good although you could have spent a little more time on the chair legs, the table legs are nicely sculpted so it doesn't quite fit. In terms of realism the lamp seems over large, but the squat fish bowl seems to suggest realism isn't what you were going for anyway, the shadows seem a little harsh either way.

3rd: You've discovered how hard it is to make something look like it's actually underwater rather than just suspended in mid-air. Everything's too sharp, unlike...

4th: discovering motion blur, the pod racer's a little too chromatically indistinguishable from the scenery but the highlights of the hot engines are a nice touch. The focus is a bit confused though imo - it's the scenery I'd have blurred to give the effect of the camera tracking the pod, rather than as it is with a short focal length and static scenery. IIRC you've got an SLR, play with that taking photos of moving cars tracking with the car to see what I mean.

wip - nice. Almost like it as is tbh =)

If any of that sounds negative it's meant in the nicest possible way, like really looking for negatives in otherwise good work.

Also I really envy someone with an obvious amount of natural creativity. I was into it from a game design POV, but was crap at the design bit. Then got a job (not in a related field).

Im considering Uni for next year. Is it worth it?
TreeFitty
College/Uni is always worth it. Even if you don't make it all the way through, you'll learn a lot.

Awesome stuff. Livin' the dream. I wish I had the sack to go FAR in debt, live in res and do gaming things. I gotta post the shit I've done so far in college.

Cool man, please do. I'd like to see.

Also, here is a new car i'm working on at the moment. Its a lambo Contach if you can't tell. Still very basic in shape. But the shape is the most important part. I'm slowly adding details to it.
TreeFitty
Very nice, sir.
The Awesome One
Nice. Show us the finished pic yea?
TreeFitty
he's still working on it. not finished yet.
The Awesome One
Soz, came across wrong, I meant when its finished.

I remember when we had to make a phone in D+T, using similar software. I couldnt put the buttons in at all. I was left with a massive hole in the phone.

TreeFitty
should've made it a round hole and slapped a big rotating dial on it. tongue.gif

Here's a quick update on where i'm at:

I've kept the poly count minimum, and i've tried to keep the flow of the lines aerodynamic. And i had to make the scissor doors!

And here i have made some wheels and rendered an animation of it spinning:
TreeFitty
Sweet!

noticed in the vid one of the wheels was turned but not the other. tongue.gif

Looks like it's been kerbed, might want a mechanic to check the wishbone on that. happy.gif

I'm enjoying looking at your work though, keep it coming.
TreeFitty
also make a vid of the doors opening up. thumbup.gif

can we expect an interior as well?

And yourself climbing out of it.
TreeFitty
I wouldn't go that far...

Yeah lol. I had moved the wheel to pose it for a still render. I forgot to put it back. I haven't constrained them together yet, so they still move independently.

You're a fucking GAWD.. Long time since I last saw your shit and you're still the man.
DuPz0r
Thanks Toge. Haven't seen you in a long while.

Here is a quick update on where I'm at:

I've been trying to get the body right when turbo smoothed because i keep getting issues.
TreeFitty
looks fantastical in that last pic. drool.gif

Wow. Looks great. I cant see whats wrong with it, but im sure once you get the body and smoothing right it will look even better.

fortune city don't like deep linking. copy/paste url only.
DuPz0r
I'm almost finished on the body. I have some bits round the back to finish (bumber, lights) And then details like nav lights, badge and possibly a spoiler...

Here is something pretty to look at smile.gif

Marney1
I reckon you're gonna do well in this field of work DuPz.
DuPz0r
Thanks Marney!

Here it is finished. I'm pushed for time and have to hand this assignment in tomorrow. I may work on it more in my own time, or i could start a new car... maybe.

Marney1
You did that from scratch all by yourself? Brilliant! cool.gif
DuPz0r
Yeah of course smile.gif

Cheers mate.
Marney1
Go on then - what's next?
DuPz0r
Dunno yet. I have a 3D street scene to replicate. I have to go take 1000's of pictures of a real street and replicate it in 3d. This is mainly for texturing and lighting practice, not so much modeling.

I had to do a mini showcase rotation of my car for hand-in. So i thought i might as well post it here too:

TreeFitty
Very nice. Still looks good rotating in the light.
