Full Version: To Much Repetitive Car Types

The lack of a propper mix of cars is really crap, for example, yesterday, the only cars in Broker/Dukes were
3-door hatchbacks, in Bohan, there was only 4x4's.

Then theres the continual masses of yellow taxies and ONLY yellow taxies, with the exception of the odd police
car, there was no other model.
It stayed like this until I got over to Algonquin, where the mix returned to normal, also, the cars in Broker/Dukes
had returned to the normal mix after I had returned from Algonquin.

When the game firsts loads I kinda expect the taxies, cop cars and the like to be loaded first, and then other
types, from what I remember of GTA-Sa, it spawned this way to, so i guess its part of the coding.
Its a pain in the ass when you need or want a decent fast car and all you can find are crap 3-doors hatches and 4x4's.

So, I was just wondering, Is there a setting in a file that I could edit that would give a greater diversity of car or a
patch/mod that would do the same. I dont want to up the level of rare or special cars but just want something that
would just mix up the car type a bit or add different (normal/standard) cars to all the areas that have a lot of one
type of car, while staying within the default spawn amount.

ps. sorry if this reads a bit funny, sleep required badly sad.gif

It's the way the GTA games have always been. if you're driving a crappy car, around you will be crappy cars. drive a truck, more trucks will appear. etc etc. It's a space saver so it doesn't need to load up a broad range of vehicle types. Not sure how you would go about changing it, if you can even do that in a simple way.
OptimumPx
You can't change it...it's just how the game is.

Like TF said, all past GTA games have had the same thing, in fact IV is way better at mixing cars up then Vice City or San Andreas ever did.
Daixter
Yeah! Thats fairly much the answer I expected, as I noticed the similarity from GTA-Sa but thought
I would ask anyway just in case there was a way.

Thanks anyway smile.gif
The Awesome One
Its a bit better on the PC, you also get more cars on the road.
DiO
It'll probably be better in the next gta game as they learn to utilize the power of the next gen console more.

I don't like the way multiplayer doesn't give you the choice of all the cars in the game itself.
TreeFitty
which ones?

which ones?

Vans, Range Rovers and Merc SLK's to name just a few.
TreeFitty
never really noticed that. something i'll look at next time i get on.

I'd say about 50% are missing in multiplayer mode.

I've had no problem, expect the millions of taxis at Star Junction, but fair enough for that to be an exception.
Plenty of that shit in III and Vice City, but SA mixed it up only a little bit since when you are at Ganton, there are so many GS members in Greenwoods and Voodoos.
Pieface
The MAIN problem is not the cars in areas, it's when you get a really rare car after looking forever for it, and then you turn around a corner and theres a whole street full of them.

Well Liberty City is supposed to be a version of New York City so tons of yellow taxi cabs is to be expected.

i find that if i drive a bus (something u only see on the road parked or during a chase sequence in a mission), the variety is mixed up a bit, since buses arent on the road. once i did this, let's say, for instance, i want a Habenero. i might drive around where i usually see them (Alderney City, West Dyke) and wait til i see one.

This is one of the few flaws of GTA, the car spawning engine is deplorable. No matter what you drive, you will see tons more of it. If you take a car to Stevie's chop shop you will notice this especially if coming from Algonquin via the Northernmost bridge. I can sit there and dump cavalcade after cavalcade in for $6,500 a pop all day for money.

Certain cars spawn certain other cars, It seems to me they come in packs of 3. The car you are driving and 2 other vehicles.

Also, there are some vehicles that are almost impossible to find. It took me an insane amount of time to find a SuperGT (not counting the one you get on stevie's text list), but turismos are easy (well there is a store for them)

I have trouble getting the FIB Buffalo to come when I hit 5 stars, usually I get the SWAT van instead.

I don't understand why this still happened in GTAIV because they built it from the ground up. It's not like it's running in the same engine or anything. Maybe they used a very similar coding process or something... I noticed it's no where near as bad as it was in GTA3, VC, SA though.
asthenia
Yeah it's just a matter of the same developers using old habits / not knowing how to work around it. That's what I assumed when I played it first anyway. I've been playing IV a hell of a lot recently, and half arsedly documented it... I seem to find a lot more super cars on the roads when I'm driving a bus. Weird, eh? And when I take a lorry from South Alderney into Algonquin I rarely see the type of lorry I'm driving, but lots of other lorry's instead. Similar goes for the little North Alderney delivery vans (Nonna's, etc) ... if I take them into Algonquin, Bohan and Broker, I'll almost NEVER see the same type of van, but lots of SUV's instead. The hummer type ... Jees I'm awful at remembering names of vehicles I rarely see...
DuPz0r
I noticed if you drive any car to Bohan near the hideout, you'll almost always see tons of that car parked all around that area.
asthenia
Yah, that's the most common place for it I think. The large curved corner heading into the Bohan safehouse from Elizabeta's will nearly always be covered in your own car.
Rconover
I tend to drive the same car around because I have one favorite car in my parking spot and that is a Black Sultan (special with the spoiler) I tend to drive a lot around Algonquin and I tend to see many different cars with the most popular being a Taxi with almost 50% of what I have seen.

Its no surprise that driving FAST will result in more of your certain car.
