Hey there ppl.
I noticed every now an then ppl r talking about earnin' some extra money in the game apart from the huge 'mount of money you earn from the missions.
I wondered what r they goin to spend it on. there are no business to run. not much shops to buy clothes or have a hair-cut or tattoos like they were on GTA SA. there r only 3 brands of shops to buy clothes from. you cannot buy cars. earn assets, or do some investment. you even don't pay the debts that is always talked about in the game. so you just keep earnin an earnin money. even the houses that you live in comes in a god-given way. that sucks.
although the artwork an graphics, and the whole gameplay makes it the best game that i've ever played, the fact that the life of niko bellic is limited to mostly killin ppl and a lil bit of fun (like datin ppl, havin sex with prostitutes, etc.) is a big mistake in the gta IV game developements. i was expecting so much more from rockstar after that masterpiece in the game history( GTA SA).
what do u think of it? maybe i'm wrong?

I personally believe it's just an excuse they made up after they realised the mistake they made, but the word from Rockstar in a recent interview with Major Nelson on his podcast is that the money should be taken as your score - you get more money for tougher missions and if you don't play 'well', you need to spend extra money on health and weapons, or you lose money if you want to skip travelling by riding in a taxi, etc. The same applies for multiplayer, in that money is used as experience points which determines which level you're at.

That is a lame explanation and I agree with you, DuffMan, that it's nothing but an excuse from R*. It also pisses me off that Niko is so money hungry (- Can you do it for me? - Sure, as long as there's good money involved) and yet what can you get for your money in LC?

- clothes (not too many)
- food (but e.g. in Burger Shot all you can get is a Bleeder, whilst in SA you had a choice already!)
- soft drinks
- plus all the money you spend on dates (purchases not shown on screen)

I've blown tons of money on ammo, just stocking up and going on rampages; but that's on my second save file.

On my original, I have more money than GOD.

On my original, I have more money than Bain.

Same 'ere, although I don't really touch SP nowadays. I only used to spend it on ammo anyway, and I never bothered phoning Jacob for cheaper guns, unless I was too far from a gun shop and couldn't be arsed to drive there. I only ever bought a few sets of clothes.

I think the R*'s focus on the artwork was so much that they forgot to spend some times thinkin about the game story an' other things. the SA's story was so good that made u feel like a real gangster. the atmosphere of the 90's los angeles made me feel like i'm really livin' in that era, doin' all that stuff that cj was doin'. makin' me feel for the hood whenever cj did. and it was so believable if you know what i mean. but in GTA IV I just could enjoy the graphic works, the graphic details and sight-seein'. an after the missions were done and finished. it didn't fascinated me to go on playin'.
man! this game made me upgrade my pc . an now I regret it. I wish the real life was like the life in GTA IV :"with lots of money, and nowhere to spend..."

Man, this game made me buy a xbox360... I can't say I regret it, but I completely agree with you. The city itself has got such an awesome potential, it's disgusting the amount of things that could have been easily doable in it... I really don't understand why so much obvious things are missing...

I remember the day I had 1.5 million.. all I have left now if 650K because of those fucking hospital visits.
LordJanemba
you could just load your game after every death, lol.

On Topic: i guess we should literally PRAY that the Luis DLC will have stuff for niko... im surprised that after the DLC, niko still can't buy Johnny's weapons.

yeah I said this when the game was released but everyone was like nah we love the graphics and we pass time wanking over them! I tell you what right, if you played SA today you wouldnt get bored because up untill the release dat of IV I was killing time on SA thats how much fun it had in it! I even found the SA online pc multiplayer shit alot better than xbox one because it had lots of modes/servers. And worst of all you gota fork out a lot of money for IV i.e. updates etc. But a few of you said dont buy the updates, but the way the games been created so far R* know the game is boring and dull and people will buy dlc!
