A friend has sent these images over to me, complaining about the shadows. Not looking to good, I'm sure they will release patches for this for weeks to come.

Be sure to click the image for full resolution to really see how bad it looks.

This picture is on low quality:

PC Specs:
3.0GHz Core 2 Duo
Force3D Radeon HD 4870 512MB graphics card
4 gig ram
Vista Ultimate 32 bit with Service Pack 1

As you can see, the shadows are junk! If this turns out to be a global issue, I'm sure that a patch is soon to follow.

Are you talking about how the edges of the shadows aren't sharp? Doesn't look too bad to me. I don't think I'd even notice if I was in middle of a mission. Although it does look nasty in the low quality pic. Are the shadows like that in the console versions?

You've discovered the main difference between the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game... The PS3's shadows were pretty sharp and flat. The Xbox has shadows looking pretty much exactly like the ones in that screenshot. Could it be a Microsoft problem? Dunno, but I don't expect it'll be fixed in a patch considering they've had over a year to test it and I'm guessing this was just how they wanted it to be.

Or Sony... tongue.gif

The only real problem I've seen with the shadows (console wise at least) was the jumpy-ness of moving shadows. Other than that I think they look fine. Not something I really pay attention to when playing.

??? This is pc discussion, why would sony be the problem? just a silly answer if you ask me...

Anyway, the shadows are like that because the settings are set to low, meaning the lowest quality of shadow will be seen, this is not a problem, because if you want better quality shadows you need to buy a better quality pc wink.gif

Forgive me if I've overlooked something but you have the shadow density on 0. Thats the lowest setting. Put it on 100 or w/e for better looking shadows. Also, shadows? who gives a shit.
HELMET
It has nothing to do with shadow density. It's the texture quality setting.

Gonna bump this thread because I have the same problem and I got no help from this thread!

You have to make the screenshot to 100% view to see it, I think it looks terrible. I've seen people on youtube have perfect shadows so I don't know why I got it like this. Sometimes the screen become 25% gray, mostly on the ground.

I got the latest patch, best settings other then view distance, very rarely I think it worked normal.

Btw, it's on the edges of the shadows you can see the small pixels. Annoying, but in the middle of the shadows it's working great. In a few days I'll rebuild my PC with new CPU and everything new other then same GFX + another one. So will see if it's same problem then..
