Ex-PS Fanboy
So i'm probably going to be buying an HD TV around christmas time. I'm wondering what you guys would recommend. i'm looking for an LCD TV around $450 that I can use with my PS3, perferably one with 1080p. and thats aroung 22-30 inches big.
DiO
With the size of 22-30 inches with 1080p you won't really notice a difference unless your up very close. So don't be afraid to get a 720p.

yeah .... I would just go to Walmart, and buy one from there. form what i've seen they're the cheapest there and the one i have has worked fine for over a year with no problems; so they are good.
FuddMan
Just make sure you go Sony or Samsung. They make the best LCDs by miles.
DiO
Actually, being such a fanboy, just go Sony.
Ex-PS Fanboy
i kinda planned on that, I can't mix my beautiful Sony PS3 with some piece of crap non-Sony TV
FuddMan
Well yeah, but like the PS3, you pay a Sony premium on Bravias for no obvious reason.

actually, my buddy just got a 34 inch plasma the other day and it looks beautiful. would anyone recommend getting a Plasma instead?

If you are going to be using the TV for gaming more than 25% of the time, then the answer is NO. LCDs are better for gaming.
FuddMan
The benefits of a plasma are becoming less obvious now. The big key advantage with plasmas was the contrast ratios, which means they are brilliant for movies. LCDs are catching up fast though so it's not really worth it, unless you're only going to use it to watch movies. The biggest problem with plasmas is that they burn in way too easily. Keep a pause menu on screen for more than 15 or 20 minutes and you have to switch the TV off to make sure it doesn't burn in. Even the logos that TV companies put in the corner of their broadcasts can be burned in. LCDs, on the other hand, can last hours on a still screen before getting damaged.

Ex-PS Fanboy

Ex-PS Fanboy
Ok I just went lookin for one, And I found a A Samsung 32" 1080p, $1000 or I can get a 32" Sony Bravia, 720p, AND Surround sound speakers, for $799

I mainly want the picture though, so will the diferences be noticable on a 720p 32" TV?
TheAnalogKid2112
Target has a Sony AV cable pack that has a fancy AV cable AND an HDMI cable and some other shit for 17 bucks. I couldn't believe my eyes.

I have all plasmas and love every second of it.

Im pretty sure only if you are sitting close to the TV. Its a pretty small set to have 1080p. I'd save the cash, get the Sony and speakers.

Amen brother. You can always display 1080i on a 720p set.

If I could just butt in here, along with D-O's topic. My HDMI lead cost me Ł10, and it's fucking perfect. I tried some Ł3 ones and they broke after a week. Hell one didn't work at all. It's all about build quality. Read the topic though, you'll understand.
Ex-PS Fanboy
What is that in canadian dollars?
asthenia
Uhhhhhhmmmm... not alot. lol. I'm not up on the rates.
Ex-PS Fanboy
