According to the latest 1UP Yours podcast, GTA IV will run at a constant 30FPS (frames per second) on both the PS3 and the Xbox 360. While this means we won't see the smooth motion we saw in games like Call of Duty 4 and Burnout Paradise, it's still a damn good achievement considering how much will be happening on screen at any given time.

The 1UP team also said that while the PS3 version is slightly behind the 360 version in development, it is still on schedule to be released on the same day, which is good to hear.

Thats make me sad, i guess it would be better than havin 60fps then going through a crowded area and dropping to 20 then being violently pissed off at R*

Does anyone know what San Andreas Ran at??

SA ran at 25fps I believe, but as we know it slowed down quite a lot when too much happened at the same time. In GTA IV the frame rate sticks to 30 no matter what happens - whether you're walking through a park or blowing a helicopter out of the sky, it will always run at 30fps.

Yea after thinking about it i would prefer a completley smooth game all the way through then a choppy one at certain points.

Skate on the PS3 was appaling.

Thanks Duffman, that was a GREAT listen.
"You instantly like Niko"..."Good mix of a lot of stuff"
From the city being alive, to hot-wiring, to hanging out with characters,
to GPS, to the game flow at 30FPS, this was a perfect morning show for me.
They cover a lot of information and really make it sound exciting. smile.gif
Mad Space Ghost
Anyone remember the days of spawning about 40 cars in one spot and just blowing them to peices with a rocket launcher? The lag was horrible... good times though!

Its nice to hear that even though i get more FPS on the computer gta4 will make sure its smooth and never choppy.
Anton

No it wasn't. Saints Row was probably the worst game on the 360 for fps lag. Just take a look at these articles: http://www.google.com/search?client=safari...-8&oe=UTF-8

If I'm not mistaken it ran at 30fps.

But it would drop.

Well that is kind of a bad comparison because San Andreas also ran at it's peak whether you walked through the desert or blew up a heli. I would say GTA IV will run at 30 whether you are walking threw a park or causing havoc on Star Junction, based on what we hear from 1UP.

I'd rather it be 30 always that 60 mostly.

I'd second that. Jumpy.gif
Mekstizzle
Well 60fps was always gonna be stretching it, 30fps probably is too. San Andreas ran at like 25 or something, just above the threshold

HAHA....o man . no offence but this is NOT TRUE... Dont get me wrong gta 4 is like the best game out there. but when it comes to SMOOTHNESS... not how the game runs.. the game generally runs good but its not that steady.. like smoothness is not in gta 4 vocabulary... it will run good but not like wat u just said. somtimes it will. But u said ''it will always run at a 30fps'' thats kinda not true. gta 4 is good but its kinda jaggedy . u will notice it more wit bigger tv's the pop in's but LOTS of people get use to it and some dont notice it. but all im saying is that dont get mad when u notice its not the SMOOTHEST game. like even running down a street slowsdown if u look closely..
asthenia
He's been playing it for a month and no complaints yet, so I don't think it matters anymore.
