Click: Red Dead Redemption Guides with Gold Medal requirements
After you've completed a mission you can replay it from the stats -> missions menu. Depending on how you complete each mission you are ranked from Bronze to Gold medals. I've been going through the first few missions making a list of the stuff you need to do in order to get gold, but it's pretty time consuming because it generally involves multiple playthroughs of each mission, I think the medals work in the same way as the Ballad of Gay Tony DLC for GTA4 in that you can complete one objective on each play through, and once you've hit the target for each individual objective, you'll get gold. For example you could play through once and take your time, ensuring every kill was a headshot, or that your accuracy was 100%. Then you could play through again and sprint through the missions finishing it as quickly as you can etc. Then once you'd got 100% accuracy, and beat the time limit (in total, across all playthroughs) then you'd get gold. All I need is for you to play through missions till you get gold, then make a note of your stats in the menu explaining which objectives you completed for gold. nice work and good tips... i got mine doing the "political realities in armadillo" mission
 ... i like how it saves the your best stats each time so you can focus on tackling individual objectives, one at a time... it usually takes a few tries for each mission but, this trophy/achievement is pretty easy to get...

i only got like 3 silver medals from playing through the story the first time... the rest were bronze... however on my evil file, the second play, i've gotten 3 silver already and one gold, and i am about half-way through mexico too

I'm gonna put it on the main site when it's finished. I want to get the most accurate info for it, so I need as many people to post their mission stats for missions they got gold for.
For example if I got gold on 2:27 seconds I might think you need to get less than 2:30, but then you might get gold on 2:40 so it could be less than 3 mins, but then someone else could have silver on 2:49 so it's most likely 2:45 etc. -------------------- |

Tweaked some of the times where I could. Been keeping a spreadsheet of my run throughs to try and pinpoint the requirements.
 now if i can actually get good at this game I can get more gold medals...

Lack of sleep must have done something right in my head. Starting to figure out the "tricks" to it. Got a 5:02 and then a 4:54. edit: 4:52 now and I wasn't trying to get a good time.
 another edit: 4:36Still seems VERY random during the stampede. Some of the dark blue "stampeding" cows just walk in circles and won't join the group so I can talk to bonnie and round them up.

Okay, with different people saying different things, I did an experiment regarding cutscene time counting towards your overall time. It appears that yes, they do add time except for the intro BUT skipping the intro will add 20 seconds compared to actual time (like with a stopwatch).
I did the first mission and noted the time it took to reach certain parts using a stopwatch. From there I found approximately how long each part of the mission takes and added those up to get the game's recorded time. I did the first mission about 15 times noting points. I found that the intro cutscene doesn't count (about 5:20 long) and that when I skipped it, an additional 20 seconds was added overall. When I watched the intro but skipped the other cutscenes, my time and the game time matched (within a few seconds). A play through of the second mission also seems to show that the intro does not count. I haven't done more than one of that mission and none beyond at this point but I figured it was worth posting my preliminary findings. I'll probably look into this more in the future.

Took a while, but all the New Austin mission guides are up with very accurate Gold Medal requirements (changed in Psy's post too). I noticed a few of the times required a second less than a flat number (such as 3:59 instead of 4:00) but I only noted those that I confirmed. probably end up changing them all one day. Some of the accuracies are within a percent or two as well. Close enough.

Fucking done with the story missions for Red Dead Redemption. The stranger missions should be easy so after that Redemption should be finally done after 2 years of this. I'll also go through and tweak a couple things plus add mission strings at the bottom of each guide so you can go from one mission to the next in order.
