I see several GTA games in the PS2 shelves, which one should I buy first?
I already have San Andreas. I've played San Andreas alot, but I know almost nothing about the GTA series. Please guide me. Thanks. -------------------- The new GTA 5 website. GTA 5 forums. I would recommend all of them (at least try one of the original top-down games). It might be a little hard to go back to lesser graphics but Vice City isn't too much different from SA and III will make you appreciate the newer titles.

I would say III it was what started the 3D GTA series. Vice city I recommend too. I personally wouldn't recommend any of the Stories series because they're PSP ports and not as great as the PS2/Xbox exclusives.

Start with III. And some of the original top-down games are free from Rockstar if you have the time.

The original games were a "top-down view" where the camera was high above you. They were 2D games. For example:

PS1 series The Stories were originally for the PSP, so they were kind of like watered down GTAs. If you're already playing San Andreas just upgrade to a PS3/XBox for GTA4 or check out Vice City first.

Yes and III was prior to VC. If you look at the main site, top right has little icons for the different games in order of oldest to newest.

There is a brief description of each game behind those icons. I also found another article with a list of the games. I think I'll buy GTA III and Vice City. What are the best GTA games. There is only the One best Game. San Andreas.

That is probably true. It was also the most "matured" GTA game in its era. We'll see if the current era will reach that height.
