How!? I either lose completely because he's too fast, or get rammed out of control by the police, this is rather frustrating, as I've done everything else in the game.

EDIT: Sorry about Double Post.. Please delete Mods/Admin!

The best thing is to learn the course like the back of your hand.Once you've done it,it's still a challenge, but it's more
fun than frustrating.

However, the last corner before the Malibu home stretch can be taken through the trees.
This isn't a huge gain, but you can really send Adrian for a nasty(and losing) spin out at this point. thumbup.gif

It is best to re-load if you loose the race and try again,so you don't hafta deal with the cops if you can't get out in front.
Make sure to tap the back brakes for drifting.

Hitting Adrian from the start may or may not help...depending if your able to recover control.

It's definately called The Driver for good reason.Good luck thumbup.gif

You can try speeding up on him and doing a T.I.P. method like the one in SA. I had to use cheats ( yes the shame ) to win that race, the hotring racer.

It P.I.T.

Try running him into the gap between the ramp and wall by the first bridge you pass. He drives like a maniac but reversing seems to be way over his head. tongue.gif

Yeah, there's a few spots where I've gotten him tangled up before, but his vehicle feels more massive than the one
you get to drive.I've also pushed him off the last bridge(one more hard corner to the Malibu) on the rite before going over it.
He was a freakin maniac, roll2.gif repeatedly slammin' into the side of the bridge.Obviously he's drivin' a special car! rolleyes.gif

If you have it on pc, maybe you could save it and attach it here somewhere. Then maybe someone with better skill could have a go at doing it for you.

yeah, I would, but I have it on PS2. I have MAX Drive so I can copy the savegame onto my PC zip it up and post it. It may get locked down.
I have also done the same with SA for the flying school missions.

yeah this mission is pretty hard, but fun, i think the missions in the malabu club are my fav, i need to buy vice city again, that game is awsome.
when i did that mission the cops usually helped me out by knocking him off the road, but you have to get a decent amout of space between yous and watch out for the cops your self

I found it easiest to complete if you let him lead for most of the way, at one point you start heading north again, and you eventually come to a right bend, just before the bridge leading to pizza hut on the left, if you reach that corner first, the police tent tp crash into you, and he drives through while you arr fishtailing all over the place. If he's first at that point, they seem to hit him and you can do the same to him.

You just have to stay close as possible to him up to that point though then back off slightly as you approach the corner to avoid being taken out at the same time.

I've used this method every time I have played that mission and I have always found it to be the easiest way to complete it.

One way of doing it is to figure out where he starts and park a large vehicle in front of him to give yourself a big headstart, then just drive like a maniac on heroin to the finish line. That's what I did.

In GTA Vice City "The Driver" is definitely one of the hardest missions. It took a few goes, alot of patience [on my brothers part] and perseverance on mine. Check out the YouTube GTAMissions channel, a channel dedicated to tutorials for GTA. They always gave me great tactics for missions especially difficult San Andreas missions such as "Wrong Side Of the Tracks".
