this topic has kinda of died ... but the game came out today.
does anyone have any updates they'd like to share?

i actually decided to pass on it, even though this is probably the FIRST FPS that would actually get me back into playing that genre more often... it's because it's not about the kills, it's about the overall team success and objective... however, i just bought uncharted 2, and heavy rain comes out next month... maybe if i decide to trade something in towards it but, for now, i'll take a pass...

and it has nothing to do with the game, it has everything to do with me being a cheap ass and waiting until next month to buy my next game... otherwise, i'd buy this because, 75-80% of the time, i felt like a part of a team... watching their backs as they repair an AA, or defending "OUR" bunker from destruction so we don't have to spawn at the back end of the map...

it's the little things i like about this game... and it's those things that will probably stay on my mind whenever i get some extra money and consider purchasing something from now until red dead redemption...

i would STRONGLY recommend this game to people that DON'T think COD:MW2 is what online FPS shooters are about... even if your a part of a team your still running around by yourself... instead, i suggest it to those who think teamwork is the ultimate goal... you all work together, stick together, and do whatever the hell the higher up's tell you to do... that's what war is all about for a soldier... just shut up and do your job...

and there's always the possibility of moving up in rank and becoming a squad leader yourself... this game to me, offers the best war experience on any system, ever... this is the first REAL war game... this isn't your grandma's FPS, this is the best military-strategic-tactical-shooter on the market... this is about war, not kills in a deathmatch...

Oh, good one. The "you're on the internet so you must have no life" insult isn't moronic or unoriginal at all. You must, without a doubt, be a very important member of society, not at all a waste of the already barely valuable gift of life.

As is the case for everyone who takes issue with people who make them sad on the internet, you are one of two kinds of people:

You are exactly what you claim I am, and that is a lonely, pathetic basement dweller. You life is spent eating eight pounds of junk food per day, masturbating to anything you find online that's even remotely feminine, and wishing you had good looks and social skills. You continue to live with your mother until she dies of a combination of lung cancer and liver failure brought on by the chain-smoking and heavy drinking she used to cope with what a failure you are. Your mother mercifully dead and free of the living embodiment of failure she regretfully thrust from her loins, the bills start to pile up and you, unemployed and unable to pay these bills (of course), lose the house and everything in it. Somehow even more of a failure than you already were, you wander from place to place eating out of dumpsters and sleeping in your own filth until you finally die of AIDS, which you contracted from a diseased whore you scrounged up enough money to pay for, so you could finally lose your virginity while at the same time pretending that your mother was back in your life.

Or:

You are the type who was an athlete in high school, who was genetically doomed to be an idiot but managed to finish school and even get a college scholarship because you were so good at a worthless children's game. You went off to college with a suitcase full of polo shirts and condoms, the polo shirts, because you're a douche, and the condoms to prevent you from impregnating the dim-witted young college girls whom you could never touch without the aid of Rohypnol, a drug you refer to as "roofies" because you can neither spell or pronounce Rohypnol. You scrape by with borderline D's for the next four years, and leave the campus to go out into the real world where your realize you're not intelligent or talented enough to do anything of value with your life. Misery and minimum wage ensues for thirty years, then you blow your brains out, and your corpse, alone and forgotten, is not discovered until the smell of rotting flesh seeps under your door and your bodily fluids finally soak through the floor of your studio apartment and into the room below you. Your body is cremated, the ashes scraped into a garbage bin because there was no one in your life who valued you enough to pay for a casket, funeral, or burial plot.

You're undoubtedly one of the two, otherwise you would have better things to do than complain about the theme of a forum that doesn't care about anything you have to say.

I agree with your points ... but I think alot of times it just depends on the community.
I mean look at killzone 2, alot of people said it was THE hardcore tactical fps game ... but what do people do? they all just rush and run around getting kills.
I do agree MW2 is broke, in the sense that it is very camp friendly, and the kill-streaks only encourage camping. there are those people that say it is a balanced game, but I can tell you that statement is B.S., and I should know since i have played MW2 a great deal. Why do i play it if i don't like it? I am just bored with the other games i have.
But anyway, I played the MAG beta, and just could not get into it. I played SOCOM and I could not get into that too, and i think MAG is pretty much a FPS version of SOCOM, with classes added.
I think I will pass on MAG, because i think it is too slow ... I don't like when one team starts on one side of the map and then has to run for like a minute to get to the actiong and then the defending team just camps to defend their points. People say the game is not about kills, but you sure as hell better be good at killing or not being killed, unless you want to keep spawning back at back multiple times (or the new spawn point).
On another note, I think I will wait for Battlefield Bad Company ... I think it sort of reminds me of Warhawk, with the vehicles and action oriented gameplay, but i will be on the look out to see how it turns out.

@envie - yea, you still gotta be able to kill some people but, even if your forced to re-spawn, it's really not that bad because, you usually spawn next to your squad, and can continue to aid them in whatever manner the squad leader chooses... so yea, you still gotta know how to handle a gun but, you also need to know how to work together... i can't recall ever playing a FPS online where everyone worked together... those are like rare occasions... yet with MAG, those are critical to the success of your faction....

@ marney - a good synopsis... and the cool thing about the ACTUAL game that wasn't experienced with the beta is, you have to go through tutorials and are required to level up to unlock the other modes... this teaches the MAG players to work together... except for the first tutorial where they pit you against other members of your faction... but, that's just to get you used to the controls... after that, the only way your going to succeed is by teamwork, or playing on some lucky squads that win without your help anyways...

but, it's a WAR experience... and a fun one at that... it has it's negatives but, i felt like the positives far outweighed the negatives... but, it's an online game and that's the only way to play it... and i am not a BIG online player... but, it's got enough fun to be considered worth a shot... at least rent it and see what you think, whomever might be interested...
