This is worthless.

Call this a win if you like, but I'm not arguing medicine with someone who has so little respect for the hard work doctors do.

I'll come back and be a condescending prick if we ever get to talking about electricians or whatever. Make it a date.

The medical system the US's is no where near the best

Yes it is. It may be better to live under socialist health care like in Sweden, but where do you think all the treatments come from? The USA.

QUOTE
if you can't see why that is there is no point in you discussing this topic as you really have no concept of how the medical system works in the US or other countries.
Yeah, not like I just wrote four fucking paragraphs on it. You're such a fŠggot.

QUOTE
if businessmen run the medical industry to maximise profit, which by definition is finding the price level that profit maximises this isn't the one that makes the product or service available to the most people.

This goes for all other kind of insurance.

QUOTE
Why it would be better if the doctors run the medical system is that they can make it more efficient as they would understand the problems therefore saving money without reducing patient care and in some cases increasing patient care.
This doesn't even make any sense. Why would they need to control insurance to do this?

Oh, i'm sorry i don't have respect for someone who hasn't even stepped foot into the health care industry but insists on making claims that aren't even close to being logical.

It has nothing to do with respect regarding doctors. Its lack of respect of your naive opinion that all doctors want is to save people and that the world would be better if doctors ran the health industry.

This is a win but not because you gave up but instead because of how stupid you sound demanding respect for attending university. Lets all clap our hands for Mello. He went to schools and such.

Also, your starting to sound like Psycho.

To me a street sweeper is as important as a doctor, no-one should demand more respect than the next man.
Also an electrician is as important as a doctor too.

The point that mello makes but for some reason didn't seem to pick up on, is that if businessmen run the medical industry to maximise profit, which by definition is finding the price level that profit maximises this isn't the one that makes the product or service available to the most people.
But that is the point where value in = value out.
No it isn't at no point is that the point at all, the value is the person is better, the idea is to make them as better as they can be as quickly and/or cheaply as possible, making a profit though nice shouldn't be the point of a healthcare system.

Why can't they do that now? I'm sure that if their was a will by Doctors to make things more efficient, businessmen would be all over it BECAUSE IT WOULD REDUCE COST (and increase profit). Revenue - cost = profit.
Yes because all the businessmen in the world are really going to listen to the staff which they will count as lower than them...

To be fair there is vast differences in areas of the medical systems and lumping them all together as one really makes no sense anyway, drug development is a far flight from invasive surgery.

not really/how?
In every way possible, I mean to create an antibiotic takes a good 10 years to develop and be allowed to be used, new surgical techniques are normally thought up by surgeons when the original process won't work. They are completely different.

That is just a moronic statement in itself, you realise how much training you need to be to become a doctor no one who doesn't care is even going to bother or will just drop out cause it is way to much effort, if you want to make money and have an easy life, you are far better off doing 90% of the other degrees out there, not to mention the fact that even after you have finished studying you haven't with a medical degree.

That is a ridiculous statement, different people are obviously worth more, anyone who disagrees is just a politically correct idiot.

I have no problem with you not respecting me, it's what I've come to respect. It's that you won't ever defer to someone knowing more than you about anything -- in this case doctors with regard to medicine.

So congrats on saving the healthcare system, funnily enough I've got an sBMA meeting to prepare for so I'll see you around ¨_¨

I didn't say i know more, i said that your outlandish claims that doctors would run things better is unfounded and that there is empirical evidence to suggest that your assertion is incorrect, while on the other hand there is no empirical evidence to support your claim at all, and you offered none. You said "I go to doctor school, so i would know". Gee, thanks.

No you couldn't, for one you would never get in; and secondly you would never pass the course, I could probably just about do it, but that would include giving up the rest of the things I do to study constantly, which would suck and I wouldn't study enough so would fail or get a shit grade.

happy.gif funny.

Anyway, a doctors first priority should be to help people, money/profit should be a second.
