QUOTE
Grand Theft Auto IV, the next-generation console debut of the genre-defining franchise, will be shipped simultaneously for the Xbox 360 and PLAYSTATION®3 in October. Starting in 2008, Rockstar will introduce exclusive episodic content downloads for Grand Theft Auto IV. Rockstar will also release new titles based on its proprietary brands, including L.A. Noire developed by Team Bondi.

Take Two Press Release

Microsoft said they believed the episodic content would be available a few months after launch and this confirms we will start seeing extra content for GTA IV sometime in 2008. However, it is still undetermined as to what 'exclusive' content as both the X360 and PS3 actually means.

I can't say that i'm a fan of this idea, but i guess it'll work.

Aren't R* afraid of losing some of the average joe market (well, the average joe that can afford a PS3/XBOX360), who can't be arsed paying for extra content? We already know the mentality of some GTA fans (OMFG, a black main character! i'm not buying it!), so i imagine some people might be put off buying GTAIV because they won't own the "complete" game. Or not.

meh, what do i know? I just want to play L.A Noire.

total freak fan,I DEMAND ALL EPISODIC CONTENT BE AVAILABLE ON DISC. mad.gif

In North America this content can be included in the Official PlayStation Magazine,as was done with SOCOM and others.
If you want to make some extra equity for your company,the episodic content could be released as a game expansion pack;
re: Final Fantasy.

Not all GTA players care to,or want to,go through the trouble or cost of going online to receive this content.Alternatively,
this content could be made available for download to pc,then transferred via disc, memory card, usb pendrive, etc. to the PS3.

I know your listening. wink.gif

I doubt they're listening.

I just hope that the content is free.

Or at least, dirt cheap.

I don't mind paying for extra content IF it's decent enough and doesn't affect the overall gameplay (e.g. I don't want to be locked out of certain online game modes because I haven't downloaded a map or something). Free would be really good though.

It won't be free, those Take Two press releases are normally aimed at share holders so they can predict when the money is going to start pouring in.

I'm not apposed to the principle of downloadable content. How ever much people may kick and scream I think it is the future and does have big benefits - no pointless DVD-9 versus Blu-Ray arguments for one thing.
It will depend on how its used though and how much they want to charge for it

BAH! RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE - Typical GTA fan with Tupac in his signature.

Calm the fuck down. Most likely it's going to be new cars and silly weapons. rolleyes.gif

Unlike the mainstream forums, we're gritty, crazy sociopaths. And still approved by Rockstar. Most GTA Sites cater to a younger, softer audience (Zidane?), as opposed to this forum, which caters to bi-polar grandmothers with too many cats (Pyro?).

actually, i think that Microsoft said that Rockstar was planning new missions ect, AKA the word "Episodic" and not simply content.
