I didn't realise this forum was a bumper sticker. Or are we all just assumed to be so stupid?

You'd have to ask manson. I was simply defending it's use in general.

Marilyn.Manson:

Are you pretending not to understand what I'm saying?

No, I understand perfectly what you're trying to get across. You are just doing a miserable job in doing so.

QUOTE(Amarillo Suave @ May 4 2009, 08:35 PM)
My point, now that I'm absolutely forced to labour it is that there is a massive difference between an unarmed ten year old and a ten year old with a gun.

One could not possibly kill within reason the other is very capable of killing, accidentally or on purpose.

To compare them in terms of people killing people is absurd.

Is that simple enough?

I understand that. It's quite simple to understand. You are the one who originally talked about a small child using their bare hands to kill someone, and then you decided not to acknowledge that you said that and put a gun in said child's hands to kill. You need to stick with your original thought or admit that you need to make a correction.

PS: I thought "indicated" was cute. There's no need to force medical language into non-medical conversation, though.

Since when is using the word "indicated" or "indication" a medical term? I realize it is used in the medical profession, but that doesn't make its usage exclusive to that profession.

Why do these topics already turn into bitchfests?

Topics that have issues where people are clearly divided (gun control, abortion, the death penalty, etc.) always seem to bring out the worst in people. I don't know why that happens, just that it does. I guess maybe because people are so passionate about what they feel and believe in that they will defend it even if they are wrong. Myself included. I've been known to be on the wrong side of the fence defending something because I am so passionate about it.

I'm not acknowledging a mistake I didn't make, the logical disconnect is there for you to infer and to force a conclusion not because I didn't realise it was there.

And in that context indicate is such an obscure and unfavourable word...

Well, you should. Because in one post you stated:

QUOTE(Amarillo Suave @ Apr 22 2009, 08:52 PM)
When was the last time you saw a kid kill 10 people with his bare hands?

And then in another one after this you said:

QUOTE(Amarillo Suave @ May 2 2009, 10:00 PM)
If one ten year old, wielding a gun, kills someone, with a gun within his reach because his dad owns it legally, then your entire point is invalidated and my bullshit argument is completely equatable to yours.

This proves that you first stated the child was using his/her bare hands, and then without retraction or correction placed a gun in that child's hands.

It's for you to notice the difference and infer that the impossible becomes possible when a gun is around.

This is not difficult.

Apparently, the difficult thing here is for you to admit that you're wrong and got called on it.
