So i started this little project which involves designing and creating a 3D digital character which i will animate.

I started with loads of drawings and ideas, and got loads of feedback from friends and peers. I came up with a story where the protagonist (main character) started out as a poor child, who grew up in a slum like part of town. He only has 1 good friend as a child which is a girl. She moved away without saying why, and he ends up getting a job as a dishwasher in a local and popular bounty hunters guild. He grows up around many well known warriors, and eventually becomes part of the guild when he becomes old enough. Some years later he finds out that an infamous organisation has abducted this girl he once knew and his mission is to save the broad and kill the person responsible.

This is a quick sketch and layout of the character that seemed to be the most popular of the bunch:


This is what i have done so far in 3D:


It still needs to be tweaked a bit. Once i think it is ready, i will put it through Zbrush and add loads of detail then texture it before i rig it and animate it.

So, give me some constructive critisizm and tell me what you think of it?

I wanted him to use a Blade for his main weapon, but i'm looking at him now, i think he may be good with a bow and arrow. I may give him both weapons. Any sugestions?

I was gonna bulk his muscles out a bit on zbrush, so he doesn't look so skinny.

Go for the guy on Last Samurai. Bow and Arrow then dual swords.

what class?

i've been doing Fine Art for three years at college. But i decided to go into digital animation at Uni this september, because it pays well, and it seems like my thing.

I will leave it to dry out a bit, then add details too it. To be honest, while it is still wet, it is kind of floppy and the legs dont support the weight without support rods just yet. That is the main reason i want it to dry, because it strengthens it.

I agree with that. The helmet makes him look a bit to much like magneto

lol. I don't know really. I was trying to get a character that fit in with a fantasy role playing game. And that was the most popular one, in my art student buddies opinions. I think i just picked ideas out of my head that i may have seen before somewhere.

And other news, i fully textured my figure, and i'm in the proccess of creating weapons, then i will rig him (i hope lol).
