There have been rumours circulating around numerous sites over the past few days speculating the release of a new Grand Theft Auto being in the pipeline for a 2009 release.
The rumour originated from an article in an issue of Game Informer, which outlined their expectations for a new instalment of the series later this year. However, Rockstar have stated to Kotaku that "there is "no truth" to reports that a wholly new retail game, one on par with the scope of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, will arrive before the holidays.". Who honestly believed this anyway? With the release of the DLC soon which is sure to keep gamers (at least 360) playing GTA IV for a while, I can't see there being a new game any time soon. -------------------- |

Never heard for that rumour anyway, but even if I did I wouldn't believe in it.

Well I guess that is what happens when people don't understand what they are reading... Anyways GI never said a new game was planned or announced, they said they were expecting one within the next year or so. There is a difference. |

Pfft, careful over the top analysis of R*'s comments makes me believe that they ARE infact making a new GTA game, it just isn't going to be on the scope of San Andreas.
More like Vice City /kick starts v12 rumour engine This post has been edited by Mekstizzle: Jan 17 2009, 09:19 PM |

Shouldn't really come as a big suprise to anybody. I mean R* haven't even released both of their DLC episodes for 360 so why they would go ahead and rush to make a new game?

i wont actually be surprised if there a new game out soon as they also said that there was a possibility that GTA IV wouldnt come to PC when they were actually making together with the console versions, so who knows? maybe they are already being a bit busy with it. however they have to focus on the DLC first before they release a new game. But im sure R* will make something nice of it

Are you sticking up for them and their feeble attempt to sell magazines by lying and misleading buyers and 13 year olds who are going to post the lies on this site? GI is for homos anyway. My guess is the very earliest we'll see a new GTA is about Oct 2010. R* will want to have both the DLC packs well and truely sold and played to death on both the 360 and PS3 and since the PS3 won't be getting either of them until about 6 months after the 360 does that puts us about 18 months down the road.

Yup, I do. R* has the skill an dedication, coupled with the new engine, and their vast experience, to produce a good qaulity game that we are accustomed to seeing from them, about once a year is my thought. -------------------- |
