Ive been going through several youtube videos and came across this...
http://youtube.com/watch?v=N71h-uaBw8k

If you notice halfway through the conversation, they speak about Dubai. Now I know Ive mentioned this before as an ultimate next-GTA destination and I still stand by what I say. Dubai would make for an incredible city; anyone who's been there would know what Im talking about.

Dubai would introduce an obvious language barrier. And what about all the GTA-style humor (burger shot, babies-over-night, etc) -- would it still be there?

That's why GTA should stay in an English speaking country.

Why does Australia get left out of every single game? Do it in Sydney or Surfers Paradise or something. I have been gaming for about 10 years and have seen Australia in one game PGR2.

As i've said before, i'm pretty confident R* will stick to the USA since they know the culture so well. Other countries have different attitudes towards different things, the US is in the public eye every day, whether it be in the news, TV shows, or other media, so it's easy for people to relate to.

That said I wouldn't mind base jumping off of R*s version of the Burj Dubai. cool.gif

If they could stretch outside of the US, it would be really cool for it to take place in a South American city, namely Mexico City. That would give them room for a LOT of detail, and it would be at least a little more believable for all of the crime in the city. But I'm thinking they are going to stay in the US, and probably a different region than before. So either the south or central US. Dallas or Atlanta, maybe.

And its very possible they will make a more fictional city.

EDIT: New Orleans would allow for a lot of detail.

New Orleans would be great. The city has a rich history and diversity, plus the recent events of Katrina would make a great backdrop for a dark storyline. I don't know that it would work, but it's a great suggestion.

As far as Dubai, I heard narcotics were TOTALLY illegal there, like you can't even have them in your blood. I think drugs are a foundation of GTA, so I don't know...

No, it wouldlook and feel exactly the same as Liberty.

I fail to see the big atraction with snow. We had it in SA and it was nothing special.

Dubai would be brilliant, actually. A lot of wealthy English-speaking people migrate there to avoid paying tax. The cities look great and there are plenty of nice cars, with open highways to cruise along. I could see it working, or at least I could see it being a lot better than some other places people are suggesting... the only downside is that it's hardly infested with criminals...but then again, the ingame version doesn't have to be exactly like the real place, so it would be possible.

^Dubai is well-known for being built on the basis of illegal money, especially in some areas. There are prostitutes, drugs, Russian Mobs, you-name-it. Also, I dont think the language barrier is a big deal since the country is full of expatriates from Britain and across the world. Moreover, Niko was speaking English with his cousin instead of his native language so I cant see why English couldnt be spoken by the main characters even if it was taking place at an Arabic setting.

Dubai would be an awesome location for GTA. Especially even more so now since all the construction that has happened recently. It includes the new tallest building in the world, which is still under construction. Check out this link for pictures and info on Dubai. : http://www.thetravelgallery.com/dubai.htm

Now who wouldn't want to play GTA in that city???? I KNOW I would!

-New York State covers 141,299 kmē
-New York City's total area is 1,214.4 kmē. (414.09 kmē of this is water and 831 kmē is land)

-The Dubai emirate covers around 3,900.3 kmē
-Dubai City itself is roughly 35.8 kmē (not sure the land/water ratio but it is probably pretty high considering there is a river running through it)

Dubai City, as it stands now, is way smaller than New York City. The United States is fucking huge man. Big cities! Dubai is still a baby city, too. All that shit has been built since 1990. At this rate the entire land area will be a city soon! The city itself now isn't that big in terms of area, but has a ton of stuff packed in. Wikipedia it if you're interested, it is a really fucking awesome city. Even if it is smaller in real life, it could easily be made to "feel" as big as New York City in a video game.
