Official HUD Revealed: Zoo Weekly AUS Rating Options

Australian Magazine Zoo Weekly recently had a hands-on preview of GTA4, and included in their magazine are some photos of their journalist playing on a large TV. On the screen we can clearly see two images of the game showing the map in the bottom left corner with two semi-circles around it representing health and armor.

Other HUD items such as your wanted level rating (stars) and weapons will most likely only be shown when they are needed, such as when you have a wanted level or are changing/using weapons.

In other Zoo news, last week an article was published in the UK's Zoo magazine showing one of their editors doing some voice work for the game. The Zoo individual in question, who plays a 32-year-old white English guy. Background: never worked a day in his life. Lives off Daddy's money. Rude and snooty, also has a pedestrian of himself in the game who will make various remarks depending on what's going on around him. These include phrases such as "Alright matey, no need to go waving that bloody thing around!" when being threatened with a gun, or "Look would you mind awfully getting your colonial fucking arse out of the road?" when being held up in traffic.

Wow, the man just got his own pedestrian in the game... I still love this approach of having unique pedestrians in the world that you could or could not encounter. And that it doesn't even matter, they just put it in for us to have fun with!

Anyway, I'm glad the wanted stars and weapons are not part of the constant Hud anymore. Makes more sense to bring em up when needed only.
And the map looks decent, clean and clear...

I'm guessing if it where to just pop up when needed then weapons when changed will briefly show icons maybe in some way, I think it might be awkward if there was nothing. Loving how the guy makes himself look like a complete d'bag tilting the controller to advertise.lol

Probably only pops up when you've got a gun whipped out (If I remember right, you can holster weapons?)

Thus keeping things less cluttered

Looks stunning. Why is there this constant focus on the 360, though? Not wanting to get into a fanboy debate but it would be nice to see PS3 represented a bit more in all these previews etc. I'm confident it'll be the same game, but the console that brought GTA to consoles deserves to be better represented.

Your right, it does, however i suppose if the X360 version of the game was finished first it would have demos for it made first, and seen as tho rockstar insist its going to be the same on both consoles.... why make a demo on both? waste money if you ask me.

Because the PS3 is a bitch to code on and is later in the stages of production that the Xbox 360.

Not to be released to the general public, this isn't a demo any way it is just media outlets been shown it so they can advertise it.

Exactly. Is it that big a deal that he's holding up the 360 controller? Well, it's advertising if you ask me. But if you KNOW the 360 and PS3 versions will be the same, why bitch about which one the demo is being played on?

I think he was holding up the controler to show he had a playable version of the game, rather then "ITS ON 360!!!!!!!!".


(and to my earlier post, i didn't mean "demo" as in small playable part of the game, i ment demo as in they had a quick demonstration of the game.)
