Update
Thanks once again to Eddie for letting me know about this. GamesRadar have pointed out that the article on CVG was a misread of PSM2's speculative article on what could happen in GTA4. Nothing has been confirmed about GTA Europe, and as I stated previously, every article we post about the new game should be treated as speculation only until an official announcement is made. More at GamesRadar.com. Original Article Computer And Video games have recently reported some information which could be the first major clue to the location of the next Grand Theft Auto. As we should have learned by now, all of this information should be taken as speculation only until it's officially confirmed, however any news is useful, so feel free to have a look at this. Special thanks to Eddie for letting us know about it. While the Italian-American hijinks present in the Grand Theft Auto series have an undeniable appeal, the patriots in us tingle at the thought of some more UK-centric action. According to PSM, a Rockstar rep has revealed that the next generation GTA will be set in Europe, with a total of 6 cities featured in the game. The mag also states that the game will be officially unveiled at this year's E3 show and will be a PlayStation 3 exclusive. Interestingly, PSM also suggests that GTA4 will be released as early as the end of this year, alongside the PS3 itself. The mag writes that a "proper" GTA is released every two years, and speculates that 2006 is ripe for the next-gen sequel. What with the GTA developer being located here in good old Blighty, it's only a matter of time before Europe gets the full-on GTA treatment. As for whether there's any truth to the rumour though, we only have to wait a few months to find out. Source: Computer And Video Games -------------------- |

Sounds good to me, which cities will it be in do you guys think?
London and Paris I reckon will be a given, London so they have finished off the line up of PSX game cities, and Paris because there has to be some way to get from London to the continent and the Channel Tunnel seems to me to be as good as any. After that, not sure, Madrid, Lisbon, Rome and Berlin maybe? -------------------- |

6 cities???
If that's true,it wont be 6 similar massive cities, so your looking at perhaps a small Italian City,or maybe a Sicily-style Island. As afore mentioned,I hope its not London,I really do. One of the most boring places ever, imo. -------------------- |

Hi I'm new here and I live and work in Edinburgh infact I go by Rockstar North everyday on my way to work. The word on the street here is that the new game is indeed set in Europe, which I heard a while ago from an independent source, so this news does tally up with what I know already. Not sure about the 6 cities bit, never heard about that but it could very well be possible.
As for it being a PS3 launch title, I'm more inclined to believe that now than I was a few months back. Most people in the know seem to think that the PS3's launch is going to be delayed until this summer, certainly in Japan, which means that the US will probably get it later in the year and Europe shortly after. So my prediction is that GTA4 will indeed be at least a European launch title for the PS3 with it fittingly set in Europe. For those who say GTA4 hasn't been in development long enough for it to be launched this year, I disagree, from what I understand GTA4's development was running along side San Andreas' so i think its been on the go much much longer than people think with Rockstar North being one of the first companies to get a PS3 dev kit from Sony (makes sense) I've no idea whether it will also be a Xbox360 game, I'm fairly inclined to believe those who say the game will simply not fit onto a HD-DVD which can only take 25GB tops but then again there is a lot of potential for lost revenue if they don't make it fit. |

Hmm. City --> State --> Continent?
That might actually be quite interesting. And if you went over to Britain, you'd have to change the side of the road you drive on. Hmm. -------------------- |

Awesome news, I can't wait to run around London as Tommy Vercetti. Could be fun riding, or even destroying, the London Eye. Hope there's subway's though!
