What you get for $999 at Alienware (Aurora 3500 model)

-AMD AthlonÖ 64 3000+ Processor (No mentioning of boxed version)

This is worth $120

-Microsoft« Windows« XP Home Edition with Service Pack 2

This is worth $100 (Although you can easily get a pirated version but meh)

-90-Day AlienCare Toll-Free 24/7 Phone Support (fucking bullshit)

This is worth nothing

-Alienware« 460 Watt Max Power Supply

No specifications mentioned, so nothing to show off with. That indicates it's a cheap budget fucker, worth $50

-Alienware« Mid-Tower Chassis - Black - May delay your order

Not much slots and expanding capabilities, worth $50

-Alienware« motherboard based on VIA K8T800 Pro chipset

Ha. Haha. VIA is a budget brand. This shit is worth $100

-ATI RADEONÖ 9550SE 128MB

This is totally laughable. An AGP card? Give me a break. SE is the cut down version of the 9550. SE is kind of like, sucky edition. Crap for gaming. Worth a lousy $60

-512MB Single Channel Low-Latency DDR PC-3200 at 400MHz - 1 x 512MB (They do NOT mention a brand name!)

Brandless 512MB Sticks come at $40.

-80GB Serial ATA 7,200 RPM w/8MB Cache

80GB? That's alot of storage....NOT! No brand mentioned, worth $60

-16x DVD-ROM Drive with Software DVD Decoder
They do NOT mention a brand name! These are cheap as hell, $25
-Integrated 5.1 High-Performance Audio with Digital Out

This is already on the motherboard, so it's a worthless mentioning, worth nothing.

-3.5" 1.44 MB Floppy Disk Drive - Black

No shit Sherlock, these come at $8

Microsoft« Basic Keyboard Black

Yawn, $10

Microsoft« Basic Optical Mouse Black

Big yawn, $10

To sum it all up:

Alienware Sells you $633 for $999!

Bunch of retarded fuckers.

i understand alienware is a rip off, but 80gb hard drive too small? suits me fine, and an agp 128 mb graphics card shit for gaming? i can run vice quite well on my stock graphics card with a 64 mb memory. so some of your opinions are a bit over the top.

VC isn't a proper game for you to test your graphic card...

yeah but i dont play many pc games either, and yes i know none of them would run half life or something, but it still suits me fine. Im getting a new one, and i will most likely get one with a memory size of 256 mb.

What is your point here exactly, all your showing is that your stupid enough to buy a rip off computer.

The point is, the claim of their 'High Performance Gaming PC' is wrong, that videocard is absolutely not capable of living up to that.

my point is, you dont need high class components to run a simple pc game. im not trying to run the worlds best pc with over 500gb hard drives, or graphics capable of playing a game higher then expected, i just want a pc that does what i want. im not like you psycho, my life doesnt revolve around having the "best" pc on the forums. Edit: also im not saying im buying an alienware, im just saying the components you called shit, are fine on their own. say whatever the fuck you like, but stuff like that is good enough for basic needs.

Nice comparison.

Plus the only reason I see why so many people buy it, ie my friend. He bought it basically for the cool case. dry.gif

Most people who buy it are retards who just look at the case and think its a pretty colour, I always say if you want something done do it yourself in this case build your own computer instead of getting ripped off it's not that hard...

Some time examples taken from my recordings in my folder

CSI - Crime Scene Investigation = 1.23GB
Live 8 (UK & US) = 29.1GB
Scrubs = 427MB
Three To Tango = 2.18GB
Thunderbirds = 1.01GB
Lost In Space = 4.38GB

That should give you some idea of file sizes
