From midnight tonight, people in North America will be able to purchase GTA San Andreas on both the XBox and the PC. There's not too many people who have waited this long to play the game, but there are a few gamers who have been patient, so I hope the wait was worth it. Many people who have already played the Playstation 2 version will be buying the game on PC and/or XBox for the increased performance, mostly in the visual department, but a few new features such as MP3 Radio and Replays should make the game worth buying again, not to mention the endless possibilities of modifications if you have a PC capable of running it at high quality. Sadly people in the UK and Europe will have to wait until Friday for the release, but I'm sure people lucky enough to have the game already will be able to enlighten you on the forums with their information, screenshots and other details that they wish to share. Stay tuned on GTA-SanAndreas.com where we'll bring you mods, cheats, downloads and any other information we can as soon as we get them. Have fun.

in my opinion I'm not going to waste my money on San Andreas just to get better graphics. I think San Andreas is fine on PS2.

I've made mods in the past for previous GTA's (simple things), but I'm pretty good at making decent mods for Call Of Duty, so I'll see what I can do on San Andreas. -------------------- |

Finally! It's been released!
As for those in doubt, yes, the PC version definitely has better graphics if your machine is capable of running it at high resolution without slowdown. Taking a look at the PC screenshots released lately show how much sharper it looks than even the direct-feed PS2 screenshots, but people who won't buy the PC version just because of graphics, i agree with them. I'm sticking with PC because i don't have a PS2 and because i like the control setup, the graphics, the fact that you don't need to use a TV and because it's so much damn easier to take screenshots on a PC. (no moving between platforms) The GTA series have never been the most demanding on the PC. I keep seeing people saying "My hunk of junk will NEVER handle it" and when i ask them their specs they often don't know or their specs are indeed above the minimum system requirements. I ran Vice City on 1600x1200 w\32-bit color with a good framerate (I didn't actually measure it at the time, but i know it was perfectly smooth) and that was before i got my upgrade. (The old one I had was a 1.4GHz Athlon with 512MB RAM and a 256MB ATI Radeon 9600 g-card) That system's memory and processor were new in 2001, i bought Vice City in late 2003 and still play it now. But anyway, enough hardware stuff, I talk too much. I live in Australia so i can't get it from the shops yet, but i've preordered it from EBGAMES and they dispatch them on the 6th, so it's already on the way. I've been waiting for this game for a long time now, so when it finally gets here i sure am going to need all the guides here! -------------------- |

I did wait... bloody annoying if you ask me, having to wait... but so far I have nearly the whole set of GTA, just missing one of the old look down versions (GTA london, think thats its name).
I have been playing it non stop, miss the old character Tommy, but nice to see old faces and flying back into GTA3 was pretty cool. Very impressed completed the story line now just cleaning up to 100% |
