My computer specs:

Intel P4 3.0ghz (keeping)
512mb RAM
ATI x300 (throwing out)
300GB HDD (keeping)
Shitty power supply (throwing out)

I have two ram slots in my computer. I'm going to put in 2, 1GB sticks, and get a much better graphics card, along with a sizeable power supply. 500 watts or so.

Only problem is that I heard Dell computers are only compatible with dell products (Which are expensive as hell) Is this true? I looked everywhere but can't find a straight answer. I have a Dell E510 BTW.

By compatable with dell products only. it meanss BTX standard. BTX ismuch smaller than usual (case mobo PSU etc...) you wont be able to put standard atx hardware in it. Plus its dell. everything dellproduces is shit. Id scrap it aand build a new rig. but its yourchoice.

Btwid suggest getting 2x 2gb ram sticks.

Ah ok. Well after a few days I found some good parts for my computer. Good enough so I won't have to upgrade for another 3-4 years. I don't have enough money to build a new PC. End specs if I get these parts are...

Intel P4 3.0ghz hyperthread (might overclock)
4GB Kingston 667mhz DDR2
300GB HDD
ATI HD 4670. 900/1900 MHZ/memory
550W PSU.

$290 for the ram, video card and PSU. Parts are really cheap these days thank god lol.

Just a suggestion but get a 1tb HD instead. You might think you'll never end up using it but you'll be surprised.

I doubt your current PC has DDR2 RAM. I would make sure everything will fit and be compatible with your motherboard.

Yeah my friend suggested that too. Seems pretty cheap for the amount of space you get.

And on the RAM stick it says DDR2 on the sticker.
