I've not yet seen any conversation on this game, which is strange since the cinematic trailer looks epic. I thought you guys would have jumped on this by now.

BRINK

Description
QUOTE
Brink is an immersive shooter that blends single-player, co-op, and multiplayer gameplay into one seamless experience, allowing you to develop your character across all modes of play. You decide the role you want to assume in the world of Brink as you fight to save yourself and mankind’s last refuge for humanity. Brink offers a compelling mix of dynamic battlefields, extensive customization options, and an innovative control system that will keep you coming back for more.

Story
QUOTE
A man-made floating city called the Ark, made up of hundreds of separate floating islands, is on the brink of all-out civil war. Originally built as an experimental self-sufficient and 100% “green” habitat, the reported rapid rise of the Earth’s oceans has forced the Ark to become a refuge for humanity. Crammed with the original Ark founders, their descendants, as well as tens of thousands of refugees, the Ark exists in total isolation from the rest of the world. With 25 years of social unrest, the inhabitants of the Ark have reached their breaking point. It’s up to you to decide the future of the Ark and the human race.

Key Features
QUOTE
Blurring the Lines Between Offline and Online - Advance your character’s development across every gameplay mode: single player, co-op, and multiplayer. Gain experience points that you can spend on customizing and upgrading your skills and abilities, designing an entirely unique look and feel for your character.

Groundbreaking Kinesthetics - Brink uses the familiar shooter controls that you’re used to, without frustrating, artificial constraints and takes advantage of a new feature: the SMART button. When you press the SMART button, the game dynamically evaluates where you’re trying to get to, and makes it happen. No need to perfectly time a jump or vault, the game knows what you want to do.

Context-Sensitive Goals and Rewards - Objectives, communications, mission generation, and inventory selection are all dynamically generated based on your role, your status, your location, your squad-mates, and the status of the battle in all gameplay modes. You’ll always know exactly where to go, what to do when you get there, and what your reward will be for success.

Virtual Texturing – Brink’s proprietary technology, Virtual Texturing, breaks new ground on current-gen consoles and PCs with an even greater focus on highly detailed characters, realistic environments, lighting, effects, and atmospherics,. This competitive lead on the squad-combat genre helps thrust players into the gritty reality of the Ark's epic secluded arcology.

Trailer

Gameplay

Well this certainly looks like a promising game to me. I'm going to be watching this one carefully. I'm intrigued as to what else they might pull out of the hat. Good ol' Bethesda aye, they're doing well with fps hybrids ftw!
Personally I love the way you can interact with the environment a little better with the SMART (Smooth Movement Across Random Terrain) feature. It seems like a good evolution from the standard fps.
What do you think?

I lost interest when they said it was first-person.

Bethesda: "Hey, we have a shit load of customization options!"

Me: "Awesome! It'll be great to see my badass custom character running around shooting guys."

Bethesda: "The game is in first-person."

Me: "Fuck you!"

But what's wrong with that? You love Fallout 3... This is Bethesda we're talking about here. They know how to make decent fps/rp hybrid games. I personally love the way this game is looking. FPS or not, it has a decent story and a fully integrated co-op story mode.

But I can play Fallout 3 in 3rd-person. I probably would've beaten F3's main story just to get my money's worth out of it if it were only first-person. Playing Borderlands drove me especially crazy. I only got it because I had enough store credit at Gamestop to get it for free.

On top of that, the biggest draw is obviously online, and I barely ever get online for anything other than DLC.

Doesn't sound groundbreaking... in fact... it seems to me like the its targeting softcore gamers... with the whole "brink automatically senses what you are trying to do and does it for you" it part of the description. ...

Yeah it does seem a little automated i suppose. But I still like the sound of it. It makes all the annoying things simple while you can concentrate on the action.
FPS aren't exactly for hardcore gamers, as anyone can pick one up and be fairly good at it in no time.

Personally i'm currently bored to death with fps games, so i probably wont get this anyway...

In the unlikely event that any of my Fallout fanboys were thinking of getting this, Bethesda is tryng to bribe us with a preorder pack.

lolz, that's a little sad tbh. I know Brink is ost-apocalyptic and set on a floating island away from the rest of the world. It's nothing like Fallout.

That makes it look terrible to be honest. It looks like the game isn't going to hold anything on it's own so they have to try and gain the fans of their other, much more popular brand, to entice people to buy it. What next, horse armor skins for a car?
