In life sometimes its easier to get something or somewhere based on who you know, why can't this be the same in GTA. In GTA IV we saw some contacts made with characters such as Little Jacob. However i have an idea based on building a network of contacts that doesn't directly interfere with the story missions. Such missions would be side missions.

Personally i'd like to see you rely on the contacts you've built up for quite a bit of the game. there will always be a number of contacts for each thing you may need a contact for. Be it, getting a plane, storing cars, getting guns etc. This also means you don't have to stick to the same set of contacts.

This is how it works...bit like chinatown wars
- Meet someone, it may be through another contact from the story missions or through a tip off.
- This person can provide you with something you need or want.
- However to get what you want you have to work for it, you have to make them like you, make them trust you.
- My suggestion in relation to this thus far (please feel free to expand) is to do 2 side missions for this person to get what you want. For example if said person is a drug dealer, you would do 2 courier missions to pick up drugs for this person.
- Once these are complete the dealer trusts you, so allow you to sell drugs for him to make yourself money, more you sell the the higher class of drug you can sell and more you make.
- After a short while a 3rd mission arises allowing you to make a decision. This mission is more important its essentially a courier mission but you stand to make a lot of money out of it. For example your dealer offers you £50,000 to do this job but...another drug dealer is offering you £100,000 to give the drugs to him instead but that would mean re-doing the initial courier missions but the original dealer and his gang will always be after you
- So you have to make a choice if you want £100,000 or you think you'll make more money from staying with the original gang because you can sell more expensive drugs for a longer period of time and a gang won't be after you.

This can extend to guns to

For example you meet a gun dealer...takes a similar course to the drug dealing being that you do missions for this person, however in the 3rd mission you decide to go against him but he doesn't react straight away and when you need him most he doesn't help you. So essentially following the quote "treat others as you wish to be treated yourself"

Another dimension to this is it can apply to anything from mechanics, corrupt police officers and those who own safe houses. For example if you be-friend a person who owns a safe house by doing something for them they may let you stay at there safehouse when trying to get away from police but then they may even tip the police off as to where you are. So its all about weighing it up and whether you trust them or they trust you, is it worth trusting them?

I see these as side missions which affect how easily or difficult you find the story missions, they don't affect the outcome they just aid you essentially.

For example adding further to this idea. You may need a police uniform for an important story mission. you have 2 choice bust straight in there steal it or do something for a corrupt cop to get it, although busting straight in there is the quick option the corupt cop may be useful down the line.

and one last example just say this game has a countryside, you need a bury a body in the woods and the cops are on your ass. you have a general friend you've met via the game, depending on how well you've treated them is how much they'll help you. if you treat them good they will help you dispose of the body, if you treat them bad they will tell you to do one.


Sorry its a long post. bit confusing was finding hard to explain

but basiclly to put it simply

you meet someone..do something for them...they provide you with what you want (be it long term or short term) you can keep them or get rid of them..but there is always a consequence be it negative or positive. this can apply to nearly everything you may need a contact for, essentially you don't have to get the contact but if you its easier or even in some cases harder
