Post any cool information/videos or discoveries you find on the internet about Science, Quantum Physics, History. Or anything else that relates to man-kind, space or technological breakthroughs.
I'm always finding awesome video's on youtube about science that i never really understood or took in whilst at school, mainly because i was distracted by girls and computer games. I thought we should have a universal thread for things like this.

I'll start with Light. Light speed is a pretty fascinating thing, and this documentary really explains it quite clearly that even a retard would understand it... Like me.

I always thought the not ageing as fast at light speed thing was a myth. Pretty cool.

Also, this crazy guy is going to parachute down from the edge of earth's atmosphere at over 22 miles from the surface, he also want to break the record for the fastest free-fall at which hight he will break the sound barrier:

What do you guys think about this guy? is he mad, or is he harder than Chuck Norris?

So if you think something is interesting about space, the universe, history of man, then be sure to post it!

The Stratosphere jumper is harder than Norris. I hope he makes it back alive.

Ive always thought we should go explore space or something, terraform mars or something. Space is an interest of mine that I admittedly don't know a whole lot about.

The book i'm reading at the moment involves the terraforming of Mars and discusses it quite in-depth. It wouldn't be as easy as creating an atmosphere and dropping a few plants onto the surface, the plants would probably need to be genetically altered to improve their chance of survival.

Personally i'm more interested in the colonisation of Titan.

Yeah, terraforming is interesting as shit.

In other news, any of you guys heard of DMT?

This gives a good overview:

Watch this doco (DMT: The Spirit Molecule) for more information....I won't post all the parts here, just click the title in the video to find the rest of them:

The one i'm reading is Green Mars, it's part of a trilogy.

Indeed, looking at the atmospheric composition of Mars there is far to too much carbon dioxide and barely any nitrogen, whereas on Earth it is the opposite.

I'm also reading a book just like that it's called; A Travellers Guide to Mars.

I've just finished reading Simon Singh's book on the big bang theory.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Bang_%28book%29

Very nice read, it gets a bit technical towards the end with physics stuff, but he really lays it down softly, you'll understand stuff like The Doppler Effect easily, etc etc.

Saw this is the other day as well, cool stuff:

Just watched those and found DMT to be a quite comforting theory. I like the fact that our souls may actually leave are body and find a new place in the universe.

The universe goes on forever and we are alone. That's all you really need to know.

The reason is that when heartless says something stupid, he really means it and believes it.

Nah, the universe does not have to exist forever. It is because nothing really has to exist that everything eventually came to exist in the most fucked up way: 'everything ends lol'.

Stephen Hawking reckons we're one of many chain-reaction-big-bang-universes. I guess we were just an accident. Someone forgot to use contraception in the bigger picture....
