I've noticed that no one here has mentioned this before, so I would like to add this attachment and maybe possibly have this pinned so that everyone wanting to play GTA IV with their PC controllers can do so. I was able to get my Saitek Rumble Force gamepad to work using this.

A readme is included for instructions. It's very simple.
Attached File(s)
Attached File  xbox360emu_1.1.zip ( 79.77K ) Number of downloads: 872

I'm not really sure since I don't have Vista to try it on, but you could just download it and try. It's worth a shot.

tried the patch, works on vista, but for some reason the right analog button can only move the camera left and right, not up and down, so i am stuck with the camera always on the down position, looking up, cant do a darn thing, and i dunno if its me, but the answer (X?) and reject (cool.gif button seems inverted.

Will you be able to provide any details on the custom mapping of keys?

Ive read the .ini file, but i dont understand how to change it? and also, after changing the values, where do i put the .ini file into? the game root (c:\programs files\Rockstar) or in the system32 file?

the part i dont understand is the analog values...how do i enable full use of the analog directions.

many thanks

Hi, ive found a temporary fix, the problem which i experienced is partly due to the patch upgrade, ive since reinstalled gta4 from scratch and put a newer version of the XInput9_1_0.dll and the 360emu.ini in the corresponding folder, system32 and windows. all the button config correctly apart from the z-axis are wrong way round, ive used joy2key app and config that so the z-axis rotation and axis are now correct.
I can upload the files (joy2key) and the (.dll + .ini) if anyone experienced the same problem as i did.

none the less, i would like to thank you guys for helping me solving my problem and kick start me in the correct direction.

"tried the patch, works on vista, but for some reason the right analog button can only move the camera left and right, not up and down, so i am stuck with the camera always on the down position, looking up, cant do a darn thing, and i dunno if its me, but the answer (X?) and reject (cool.gif button seems inverted. "

I assume you have placed the modded XInput9_1_0.dll in system32 folder and xbox360emu.ini in c:\windows?
if so, download this joy2key app
joy2key

it contains the config files for gta4 with the axis and the rotation correctly fixed. Extract the winrar file onto desktop.
Before playing gta4, launch the joy2key app by double clicking on it and then launch gta4 the usual way.
You should find the axis and rotation is now correct.
If not, let me know and I will try and fix it for you.

Hai gor,Thankx a lot for you response.Yes i replaced old XInput9_1_0.dll with new one that came up with emulator and also place xbox360emu.ini in c: drive.

I downloaded and ran joy2key and started game. Now the buttons are workings as they should be like the right axis button to view/navigate and left one for forward,backward,left/right.Your joy2key fixed the problem "the right analog button can only move the camera left and right, not up and down" BUT my camera is always in the down position. How to make it center man?what do i need to change in joy2key setting?Any idea?

Once again thankx a lot for you help.

The camera is always in the down position is cos you have installed the gta4 patch...which is no longer capable with the controller hacks.
what you need to do is do a clean installation, then apply the .dll and .ini, run joy2key BUT do not install the official GTA4 patch.

copy XInput9_1_0.dll to system32 folder
copy xbox360cemu.ini to c:\windows
load joy2key app
run gta4 as usual
make sure the controller analog is used.

the reason the camera rotates around niko is because the controller analog is not being used. the camera looks down at niko is because you have installed the gta4 patch. You have to do a clean installation again.

yes, doing a clean installation will take you back to defult settings that works. apply the .dll and .ini, then joy2key before you run the game.
