My teacher makes us read this book, and after every 1 or 2 chapters, she gives us a quiz on it. I have found the website where she prints these quizes off of. And the internet version shows answers which she obviouly blocks out when she gives us the test. I have showed one of my friends this, and he seems to be taking advantage to it. If I take advantage of it like him, would that be cheating?

Just read the book, it isn't hard and you'll gain things from it.

Out of interest, what book is it?

yes it is cheating ...
but if i were you i would be like your friend and then help out all my other friends too.
last year we had to rely on getting the answers from people from an earlier class and then pass those answers around ...

It is cheating but who cares. Not reading one book won't change the world.

You could just try reading the book, and getting the answers right without cheating.

Just wondering, how could printing the answers off a website not be cheating?

It's called being resourceful. You should have a copy of the answers (let's face it, the internet is a common resource) but it probably wasn't the best idea to tell your friend about it... depends on how much you trust him.

This exact same situation happened to me, but instead of a quiz, it was a computer contest. We were informed that we were gonna have a contest all about general computer questions, and there was a cash prize for the 1st place winner. The day before the contest, I got on the net and searched for a site for an online computer quiz. I had logged in to trivia.com, and answered most of the questions on different categories. The next day, the contest started, and believe me, the exact same questions from the site was asked in the contest, including the order of the questions, and since I had answered most of the questions on 5 different categories twice, I had no problem with the contest, and ofcourse I won 1st place.

I didn't feel bad, and I also didn't feel like I cheated, it wasn't my fault that I stumbled upon the site and it certainly was not my fault that the quiz masters took their questions directly from one source in the internet.

Anyway, I don't think it is your fault that you stumbled upon that site, and used the information to answer your quiz correctly. I mean common, how dumb is the teacher, she gets the questions out from a single site in the internet, does she really think that no one would ever find that site. The only thing I see wrong, is that you shouldn't have told your friend about this, what if the word starts to spread around and sooner or later everyone is acing the quiz, that would no doubt raise suspicions. I suggest you keep it to yourself because who knows if you spread this info around, it might eventually reach to the teacher and she might change the questions. So use this to your advantage.

It's definitely cheating. Cheat if you want, but of course you won't be able to cheat like that in the exam, so don't neglect reading the book and studying just because you can easily get the answers for these little insignificant tests. It doesn't really matter if you cheat for these tests, but best keep it to yourself otherwise it could get found out.
